Our activities include cleanroom assembly of kits, sterilisation of product using Ethylene Oxide gas, transport and distribution of our goods.

Purchasing Team Supervisor


Location:

Reports to:
Purchasing Manager


Boad Function:

The Purchasing Team Supervisor is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services required by the company.

Acting as a second in command for the Head of Purchasing, this role involves managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of products, and contributing to the development of the procurement strategy.

The Purchasing Team Supervisor will also mentor junior team members and collaborate with various departments to support company objectives.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


Procurement Strategy:


  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure the costeffective acquisition of materials and services.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Supplier Management:


  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and audits of suppliers to ensure compliance with contractual agreements.

Purchasing:


  • Manage the endtoend procurement process, from requisition to purchase order issuance and delivery.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to meet operational needs.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts.

Cost Control:


  • Analyse market trends and pricing to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on purchasing expenditures.

Quality Assurance:


  • Ensure all purchased products meet the required quality standards.
  • Address and resolve any quality issues with suppliers.

Team Leadership:


  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior buyers and procurement staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and highperformance team environment.

Compliance:


  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

Collaboration:


  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including production, finance, and contracts, to align procurement activities with business objectives.
  • Participate in crossfunctional teams to support company projects and initiatives.

Principal Relationships:


  • Accountable to - Purchasing Manager
  • Responsible for - Purchasing team members during Purchasing Manager absence.
  • Internal - Purchase Team Members and all other departments as and when required.
  • External - All Vendors

Education and Experience:


Education:
(Ideal but not essential)

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (CIPS) is preferred.

Experience:


  • Minimum of 57 years of experience in procurement, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Experience in medical supply or healthcare industry is a plus.

Skills and Attributes:


  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Other:


  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles.
  • This position may require occasional travel to supplier sites and industry events.
  • The role is primarily officebased, 5 days per week in Newmarket (Suffolk).

£35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
