A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and organised Clinical Van Driver with the Cheshire and Merseyside Hepatitis C Operational Delivery Network.

NHS England has targeted the elimination of Hepatitis C in England by 2025 and Liverpool University Hospitals is the operational lead for this in Cheshire and Merseyside.


This is a Drivers role, driving a designated bespoke clinical van across specific sites within the Cheshire and Merseyside Network boundary so that clinicians can perform health checks within the communities of C+M.

A full UK driving license is required. You must have no more than 6 points on driving license.


The successful post holder will be essential to supporting the Liver Health Check project being undertaken by C+M ODN to respond flexibly and quickly to our ambitious target of elimination.


Duties will consist of being able to drive the vehicle to specific locations within the Cheshire and Merseyside Network on agreed days as well as supporting the medical staff onboard the vehicle.

Working alongside colleagues in the team to review rota's and plan for future visits around the C+M Region.


Speaking with partners/patients at specific sites ensuring they can be seen by clinicians on the vehicle by developing a booking system or if in a busy area letting patients know appointment times.

The safe delivery and return of the vehicle to set destinations ensuring it is maintained in safe clean condition

Ensuring the vehicle is fully stocked with required materials

Keep the vehicle clean, inside and out to prevent dirt and cross contamination

Ensuring the clinical room of vehicle is kept sanitised for patient visits

Routine vehicle checks with general upkeep of cab to prevent any potential cross contamination between cab and clinical room

Supporting the clinical team once at destination

Assisting patients on and off vehicle if and when necessary

Required to observe a duty of care for all equipment and resources used in the course of the role

Maintenance of logs and reports relating to individual journeys - undertaking of audits

Take the vehicle to supplier for repairs, servicing and MOT's.


Beginning the working day with a series of vehicle safety checks to ensure the vehicle is safe and ready for the working day and keeps documented records i.e.

defect reports etc. as required in order to maintain the safety of the driver, vehicle and other road users.

Must be willing to learn from Hepatology Nurses and Hepatitis C Trust Peers on performing Antibody tests if necessary


Must be willing to assist with patient satisfaction surveys at specific sites to ensure the service is meeting patient needs.

Undertake monitoring of refrigeration within vehicle to ensure safe temperature levels are maintained

Putting patient care at the heart of their work and working effectively in conjunction with others to provide a positive contribution to the delivery of high quality healthcare
