    Job summary

    The duties of this role may vary from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager and GP Partners dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:

    An experienced, dynamic, forward-thinking Deputy Practice Manager to join our established and respected management team.

    Responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the practices, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities.

    -Commitment to support the delivery of an excellent standard of patient care.

    Ability to manage change through motivation and leadership.

    Ensure the practice meets NHS targets and adapts to change within a profitable, effective, and efficient working environment.

    Main duties of the job

  • Overseeing the day to day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve primary responsibilities.
  • Supporting the delivery of excellent patient care with vision, willingness, and drive.
  • Excellent leadership and people skills.
  • Previous NHS Management and Operational experience (Primary Care experience desirable)
  • Be an effective communicator at all levels.
  • Maintain accreditation for the practice in respect of CQC compliance.
  • Help develop efficient systems of management to include IT, Human Resources, Financial and risk management and to delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation and deal with disciplinary issues accordingly together with the Practice Manager.
  • Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Overseeing the management of the premises including health and safety aspects such as risk assessments.
  • Ensure collaborative working across all teams in the practice as well as with the wider NHS community.
  • Leading and working up proposals on staff pay and benefits liaising with the Practice Manager.
  • Meeting with Salaried GPs regularly, listening to their concerns in both a group and individual basis.
  • Assist the practice in the wider community and assist with forging links with other local practices and relevant agencies.
  • Knowledge of Primary Care Networks and how practices work in collabration with PCN's.

    Magna Group practice operates over 4 sites within the Rotherham organisation consists of 4 GP Partners, 8 Salaried GP's, a Nursing team, Health Care Assistants. All are supported by Care Navigators and an administration team. We have around 15,000 patients over 4 Sites.

    Job responsibilities

  • Implementing new initiatives to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the practice ensuring appropriate manpower is available.
  • Ensuring immediate issues that arise during the working day, patient, staff, doctor, premises issues and dealt with in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Ensuring effective communication between all team members including GPs, Nurses, and non-clinical staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining effective relationships with external organisations, The Integrated Care Board (ICB), The Primary Care Network (PCN), Account.
  • Monitoring Quality Improvement Activity, ensuring records are kept of discussions and learning actions.
  • Supporting the Practice in building projects.
  • Management of MHRA CAS Alerts and Patient Safety Alerts.
  • Responsible for organising weekly workload GP cover.
  • Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of customer service training and improvement of standards of customer service within an organisation.
  • Experience of performance management to enable high-quality of working practice within teams.
  • Management experience in a small to medium-sized organisation.
  • All round management skills particularly in relation to human resources and performance management.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and key performance indicators.
  • Experience working in the health or other public sector organisation.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organised, flexible, and able to manage a range of tasks competing for attention.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - with the ability to manage confidential information appropriately

  • Experience of working in a Primary Care Setting
  • Experience of working in GP Practice.
  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths.
  • Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft programs; excel, word, PowerPoint.
  • Management Experience.
  • Experience in customer service/patient-facing roles.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - with ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
  • Desirable

  • Use of patient administration database (System One/EMIS)
