- Check the suitability of patients' own medicines for use in the hospital
- Order medicines for patients during their hospital stay
- Dispense medicines
- Transfer medicines between the pharmacy and wards
- Collaborate with discharge facilitators and nursing teams to assist patients returning home
- Manage housekeeping tasks and ensure safe storage of medicines
- Provide information on medicines and pharmacy services to patients and nursing staff
- Reviewing pharmacy work queue to ensure efficient medicine supply
- Dispensing inpatient medicines and managing resupply during their stay
- Assessing patients' own medicines for suitability
- Liaising with discharge facilitators for patient discharge planning
- Conducting housekeeping tasks and managing stock levels
- Managing missed dose situations and providing patient information
- 2 GCSE Passes Grade C or above (Maths and English)
- 4 GCSE Passes Grade C or above (Maths, English & Science)
- Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff or equivalent
- Leadership/Management Certificate
- Teamwork experience
- Computer skills and good communication abilities
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
- Experience with EMIS (Ascribe) and Pharmacy IT systems
- Supervisory experience and understanding of stock control systems

The Pharmacy Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has three vacancies for Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistants.
If you have a level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff, you will start on a Band 3 pay scale. If you don't have the certificate, don't worry! We provide on-the-job training and support to help you obtain the qualification and progress to the Band 3 pay scale.
As a Medicines Management Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to deliver dispensary and ward-based pharmacy services, ensuring patients receive their medications promptly and safely.
