    Job Summary

    To provide a specialized Clinical Psychology Service to patients of the designated team(s) including advanced psychological assessment and therapy, working within the applicable policies and protocols of the service. Offer guidance on patients' psychological care to psychology and non-psychology colleagues and non-professional carers autonomously, following professional guidelines. Develop consultancy skills by implementing formal systems of consultancy within the designated team(s) as directed by the Locality Professional Lead and deputies. Utilize research skills for audit, policy, service development, and research in the relevant area.

    Main Duties of the Job

    This role is based with the Chorley & South Ribble team, with an expectation to work across the Central Lancashire Locality. Previous experience with adults with Learning Disabilities is required.

    Collaborating closely with professionals from various backgrounds, you will play a key role in the team, providing psychological assessment, intervention, consultation, training, and supervision to the wider MDT on the psychological care of adults with learning disabilities. Opportunities for service-related research and development may also be available. Regular clinical and professional supervision will be provided by a Clinical Psychologist, and you will benefit from involvement in the Learning Disability Psychology Specialty and the wider Psychological Professions Community within LSCFT. Strong links exist with clinical psychology training courses in the North West.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996, including various psychological therapies, psychometrics, and neuropsychology.
  • HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development as per BPS recommendations.
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Advanced knowledge relevant to the post equivalent to a postgraduate diploma.
  • Doctoral-level knowledge of research methodology and design within clinical psychology fields.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development through CPD logs.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience post-doctorate working with children, families, and carers.
  • Specialist experience in psychological assessment and treatment across various care settings.
  • Experience with diverse patient groups and clinical severities.
  • Skills & Abilities

    Essential

  • Proficiency in complex psychological assessment, intervention, and management, especially with children and families.
  • Effective communication skills in conveying technical information to clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Experience in providing consultation and supervision to professional groups.
  • Formal training in supervising psychologists.
