    Job Description:
    Purpose of the role:
    ENGIE's C3NTINEL Platform empowers forward-thinking organizations to reach ambitious, intricate energy management goals. As a Software Test Engineer, your role involves ensuring the seamless execution of quality assurance processes within the team. This includes developing test scripts, conducting functional tests, and tracking bugs. You will collaborate with stakeholders to grasp the system under test and guarantee sufficient test coverage through manual and automated techniques to minimize production risks.

    Key responsibilities:
    • Designing and executing Test Cases: Develop detailed test cases and suites that encompass all aspects of the software's functionality, ensuring they align with user requirements and system specifications.
    • Quality Assurance: Uphold the highest quality standards by identifying, documenting, and reporting bugs, errors, and inconsistencies in software performance to the development team.
    • Test Automation: Establish and manage automated testing frameworks to streamline testing processes, ensuring efficiency and repeatability in test executions.
    • Performance Testing: Conduct performance evaluations to assess the software's stability, speed, and scalability under various conditions, offering actionable insights for optimization.
    • Security Testing: Evaluate the software for vulnerabilities and security risks, proposing measures to mitigate potential threats.
    • Continuous Improvement: Continuously enhance testing strategies and methodologies to boost test coverage, efficiency, and effectiveness.
    • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with the development team and stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of the software's functionality and performance expectations, fostering a cooperative approach to product enhancement.
    Results and Performance Indicators:
    • Designing and executing Test Cases:
      • Result: Robust suite of test cases aligned with user stories and product requirements.
      • KPI: Measure of executed test cases versus planned.
    • Quality Assurance:
      • Result: Minimally flawed product release to production.
      • KPI: Measure of critical post-release bugs versus during testing.
    • Test Automation:
      • Result: Reliable and scalable automated testing framework reducing manual testing efforts.
      • KPI: Measure of automated test cases and regression testing time reduction.
    • Performance Testing:
      • Result: Software meeting performance benchmarks and delivering a seamless user experience.
      • KPI: Response times, throughput, and resource utilization against defined performance criteria.
    • Security Testing:
      • Result: Secure software free from critical vulnerabilities.
      • KPI: Number of identified security vulnerabilities resolved pre-release.
    • Continuous Improvement:
      • Result: An adaptive testing process keeping pace with new technologies and methodologies.
      • KPI: Frequency of test process reviews and implementation of improvement actions.
    • Collaboration and Communication:
      • Result: Effective communication ensuring shared project goals understanding and quality standards.
      • KPI: 360-degree feedback.
    Job Dimensions:
    • The Software Test Engineer operates within an Agile Development team.
    • This role has no direct reports.
    • The Development team is primarily located in Plymouth (UK), with remote work flexibility.

    Experience Requirements:

    Education/Experience:
    • Formal education in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated work experience as a software test engineer.
    • Advanced knowledge of debugging codes and software development languages.
    • Experience working with major operating systems like Windows and Linux.
    • Proven ability to organize and deliver work within set deadlines.
    Essential Qualifications:
    • Degree level education or relevant experience in computer science or a related field.
    • Proficiency in software development techniques and principles utilizing Java, SQL, JavaScript.
    • Deep understanding of manual and automated testing tools and techniques.
    • Fluency in automation and technologies supporting Behavior Driven Development.
    • Solid knowledge of application testing, deployment, support, and maintenance.
    • Experience in software application testing within a commercial setting.
    • Strong grasp of service-oriented architecture.
    • Sound knowledge of User Interface design techniques and construction utilizing CSS and JavaScript.
    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Understanding of UX Design, CSS Architectures, Object-Oriented JavaScript, Ajax, Spring Web.
    • Familiarity with AWS Cloud Environment.
    • Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks.
    • Experience working in an agile team environment.
    • Solid understanding of relational database technologies like MySQL.
    • Experience in providing support and guidance on CI Build Process.
