Beatson Clark are looking for an IS machine maintenance apprentice to complete a level 3 mechatronics maintenance apprenticeship to help support work activities.

This role is designed for working towards achieving the skill set of a IS Machine Engineer:

  • To ensure that job changes are effectively and efficiently complete within the agreed timescales and both reactive and planned maintenance is undertaken
  • To ensure compliance as an individual of both company and legislative Health and Safety policy, procedure, standards and regulations
  • Playing an active role in the continuous improvement management system, including:
  • Establishing, setting and standard procedures
  • Contributing to continuous improvement teams
  • To ensure that machinery is in safe working order after any adjustments or repairs
  • To provide an effective and efficient Breakdown service, involving the location and repair of any hot end breakdowns, placing orders for machine spares required from the engineering stores or manufacturing any machine parts, brackets, fixture and fittings required
  • To provide an effective and efficient Preventative Maintenance service, via checks on machinery parts for any signs of wear or possible future breakdowns, checks on safety equipment for damage and correct operations and lubrication of machines to manufacturer's instructions
  • Workshop repair of variable equipment and mechanisms
  • Any other reasonable duties as required within skill set
Role & responsibilities

  • Work within the Engineering team
  • Gain experience of using workshop equipment
  • Gain experience of working on plant and equipment breakdowns; preventative maintenance and installations
  • In particular, focusing on: furnaces, glass forming process, bottle coating systems, inspection equipment packaging equipment, technical services, and site services
  • Abide by Company and departmental rules
  • Work to departmental procedures and follow job safety instructions
  • Wear PPE as instructed and relevant to job specific hazards
  • Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and management
  • Essential to attend College to complete Modern Apprenticeship qualification in Engineering (including NVQ's)
  • Undertake other internal and external job specific training
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested within skill set
