    Job Summary

    This job post is for hours from Monday to Thursday with Friday as a day off.

    This role is focused within Beacon Medical Group's Prescription Hub, supporting patient-facing administration functions with an experienced prescription team.

    You will be responsible for providing a safe and accurate prescription service to patients, processing acute and repeat prescriptions in line with practice processes and KPIs. The role will involve offering a range of services to patients, including receiving and processing medication requests both in person and electronically, as well as maintaining effective communication with patients, primary healthcare team members, pharmacies, and other healthcare agencies.

    Main duties of the job:

    • Work effectively alongside other teams and clinicians within the Group in a professional manner to nurture a spirit of collaborative teamwork.
    • Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all repeat and acute prescriptions according to contractual and legal requirements.
    • Provide efficient administrative support to GPs, Prescribers, Nurses, and other practice teams.
    • Handle patient queries professionally and sensitively, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Prescription Processing
    • Process repeat and acute prescription requests following practice policy.
    • Handle urgent prescription requests from other sites promptly and effectively.
    • Ensure accurate and efficient generation of prescription requests within specified timelines.
    • Coordinate with GPs and pharmacies for medication changes and updates.
    • Support clinical pharmacists in developing prescription hub processes and patient engagement.
    • Facilitate communication with community pharmacies regarding medication supplies.
    • Support GPs and the practice team in optimizing electronic prescribing processes.
    • Conduct audits and reviews of prescription processes as needed.
    • Patient/Customer Care
    • Keep patients informed about prescription progress through various communication channels.
    • Provide general assistance to patients and project a positive image to patients.
    • Ensure excellent customer care is consistently delivered.
    • Assist in coordinating and reviewing patient surveys related to prescription services.
    • Offer solutions and listen actively to patients to address concerns.
  • Facilitate effective communication among healthcare team members and external agencies.
  • Operations

    • Process paper and online prescription requests and address related enquiries.
    • Maintain and monitor the practice prescription system.
    • Handle chaperoning duties for clinicians when required.

    • Person Specification

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • Educated to GCSE level or above.
      • NVQ Level 2 II or relevant experience.

      Desirable

      • Familiar with Medical Terminology.

      Experience

      Essential

      • Receptionist role experience in General Practice or community pharmacy.
      • Up-to-date knowledge of Primary Care services and health resources.
      • Understanding of prescription processes and safe prescribing guidelines.
      • Confidence in leading on practice protocol.

      Desirable

      • Significant experience in a specialist area.
      • Experience with SystmOne and CPD.
      • Training and mentoring experience.
