Senior Practice Development Lawyer, Regulatory and Investigations - London, United Kingdom - Dentons

    Default job background
    Description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Department: Regulatory & Investigations practice (part of Dispute Resolution)
    Duration: Permanent
Location: Any UK Office or Remote (UK) - but regular London presence needed
    Reports to: Partner
    Type of Role: Hybrid/Remote

    Reference no: 5592

    Role Purpose

Dentons' Dispute Resolution team is seeking an experienced regulatory lawyer to join its existing practice development lawyer (PDL) team. The role can be based either in any of our offices across the UK, or fully remotely.
This role will support Dentons' London-based Regulatory & Investigations team. You will cover a wide range of regulatory work including contentious and non-contentious financial regulation, fraud and white-collar crime, and international trade including export controls, sanctions, and national security regulatory matters. You should have prior expertise in some, but not necessarily all of these areas.
The Regulatory & Investigations team is growing into one of the City's most exciting teams in the UK working with government, regulators, and a wide spectrum of corporates and financial institutions impacted by financial regulation from within the UK or drawn from our wide network across the world.
This role would ideally suit an existing PDL or a mid-senior regulatory lawyer looking to transition into a demanding PDL role. In addition to a strong grounding in some of the above areas, candidates would ideally also have expertise in investigations.
We are very open to considering candidates from a variety of backgrounds and roles.

    The Role

    Current awareness and horizon scanning

With others, you will help share information and develop marketing materials - both internally and with clients - about key legal, regulatory, and procedural developments affecting clients of the Regulatory & Investigations practice.
    Precedents and knowledge management tools
You will work with the team to review and maintain a suite of standard form precedent documentation, playbooks, and guidance as well as knowledge management tools (eg records of relevant recent decisions on topical areas).
    Training
You will contribute to internal (including trainees and qualified lawyers) and client training programs by organising, writing, and/or delivering training sessions.
    Legal service delivery and innovation
You will contribute to the team's drive to streamline our processes while ensuring we continue to deliver the best quality advice to our clients. This may involve participating in or organising trials of technological products, using and championing cost budgeting tools, using legal project management tools, and using document automation tools to speed up document production. You may be involved in trialing new technologies.
    Client support
As an integral part of our R&I team, you can expect to provide regular advice or act as a sounding board for queries, ranging from basic questions from trainees to research tasks from partners and other experienced lawyers.

    Required experience, skills, and attributes

    • Qualified in either England and Wales, or Scotland, or ideally both.
    • Extensive knowledge of financial regulation.
    • Experience in providing advice to businesses on regulatory-related matters.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the confidence to present well in a multi-cultural environment.
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
    • Able to present information concisely and professionally, including in diagram form.
    • Self-starter who is able to demonstrate a proactive and positive attitude to their work.
    • Flexible and adaptable, for example relishing new developments and changes as the market develops.
    • Keen to learn and develop, demonstrating enthusiasm and dedication.
    • Innovative and client-focused in the use of delivery media.
    • Dedicated to exceptional client service and demonstrates market focus.
    • Strong financial and business awareness.
    • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
    • Demonstrates good judgment and resilience skills.
