The Opportunity:


Nigel Wright has been appointed exclusively to support to an established professional services client in Newcastle with the recruitment of a Business Development Executive.

The position is newly created and is the starting point for growing a significant businessdevelopment function within the organisation.


Role Profile:


  • Significant onboarding training and induction process for the new hire to educate them in the way this professional services organisation engages with its clients and the products and services it provides
  • Core objective is to generate quality prospective long term client relationships rather than being overly concerned with the pure volume of lead generation
  • Undertaking new business development activities utilising industry sector databases, inhouse CRM system and new market research activities (e.g. Linkedin sales navigator)
  • Establishing initial communications and providing an overview of the proposition to prospects (predominantly in the financial services sector)
  • As the role develops, the individual will join directors at pitch and new business closing meetings face to face
  • Once fully up and running in the role the individual will begin to representing the company at face to face networking and industry sector events. These activities will involve some ad hoc business travel to London
  • In the medium term the plan is to grow the business development function which may provide this hire the opportunity to take on managerial responsibility

Person Specification:


  • University degree is preferred but not essential
  • A polished professional and articulate communicator both written and verbal
  • Experience in a proactive business development or sales role is advantageous
  • Effective time management
  • Resilient and adaptable to a changing business objective
  • Someone looking for a long term professional services career
  • Commutable to Newcastle
