OVERVIEW OF THE POST
The post holder will be part of the team responsible for the delivery of Groundwork's Youth
Coaching and Mentoring programme in Greater Manchester
The key purpose will be to deliver a programme that supports young people to develop new skills, overcome barriers to engagement and become more emotionally resilient.
The post holder can also expect to regularly work on our wider youth programme, including supporting community based youth work and social action.
ROLE & MAIN PURPOSES OF THE POST
Main duties to be undertaken by Youth Coach and Mentor Lead:
- Deliver our Achievement Coaching programme and all of its subset projects to young people in Greater Manchester.
- Support young people to develop action plans and achieve outcomes in line with their needs.
- Deliver 121 sessions with a case load of young people. Effectively managing their interventions, planning and recording progress.
- Work with partners to identify young people to refer on to the programme.
- Support engaged young people to improve leadership, communication, volunteering and reduce barriers to participation and link young people into wider strategic opportunities and progression routes.
- Capture data, evidence of achievement and other outcomes for Groundwork, young people and funders.
Specific activities will include:
- Deliver coaching and mentoring following the achievement coaches model to young people.
- Ensure the impact and quality monitoring process are adhered to and data inputted and checked.
- Utilising wraparound services to address specific barriers to engagement or sustained progression
- Develop new approaches and best practice to maximise young people progressions.
- Build strong relationships with our local partners to ensure a locally joined up wrap around service.
- Support other youth projects and programmes as required by the Trust
General Requirements:
- Be responsible for ensuring full awareness and understanding of personal responsibilities with regard to the Data Protection Act / General Data Protection Regulation in the delivery of youth engagement activity and ensuring full compliance with the data security requirements for the Trust and its funders in the delivery of all services
- Maintain the confidentiality of information about customers, staff and other Trust business
- Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures, undertaking responsibilities outlined in the policies at a level appropriate to the role
- Comply with and help develop Groundwork's Minimum Standards and Safeguarding procedures
- Ensure activities are carried out in compliance with all statutory Health & Safety requirements, the Trust's Health & Safety policy and that of our key stakeholders.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential experience:
- Proven track record of supporting disadvantaged young people to overcome multiple barriers to sustained engagement in education, employment or training.
- Supporting young people in 121 settings
- Working to and meeting engagement and progression targets
- Project management and ensuring quality delivery.
- Developing and delivering interventions based on the needs of young people and funders.
- Experience effective impact data collection and assimilation
- Ability to implement youth work strategy and best practice to ensure impact of youth programmes.
- An ability to understand and adapt to the multiple needs of young people whilst maintaining the efficiencies of service delivery and high quality outcomes
Desirable experience:
- Ability to influence and deliver projects in partnership with other organisations.
- Working with young people at risk of serious youth crime
- Delivering mental health interventions
Essential knowledge, skills and qualifications:
- Qualification in Youth or Community work, Coaching or Mentoring or equivalent
- Project and case load management.
- Displaying strong motivation, leadership, customer service and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate your own workload and work using initiative
- An adept communicator with the ability to persuade, influence, empathise and listen to others
- Good problem solving and lateral thinking skills
Desirable knowledge, skills and qualifications:
- Degree in Youth or Community work, Coaching or Mentoring or equivalent
- Qualification in project management
- Qualification in Trauma informed practice
- Qualification in mental health and counselling
- Knowledge of Youth offending and yout
