Salary: £29,000 per annum

General Summary


Bonnier Books UK has an exciting opening for a production controller to work across its varied imprints on a wide list of colour and mono titles.

This will include working on new titles, reprints and co-editions.

We are looking for an organised and proactive individual who wants to build on their existing experience and who can deliver titles on schedule, within budget and to the required standards of quality.


You will be happy to liaise directly with the creative teams for files and approvals and keen to build your relationships with global printers.

This role is an opportunity to work across a wide variety of titles, from board books and pop ups to licensed product and mono fiction.


Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for controlling a list of front & backlist titles, plus coedition printings
  • Opportunity to cost off scale formats where required, and to negotiate directly with established printer base
  • Experience of Biblio is preferred but not essential as the role involves maintaining and updating biblio schedules, specifications and costs, ensuring accuracy of records
  • Raising purchase orders, reconciling and approving invoices
  • Arranging freight as required from FE and EU printers. Supplying packing and shipping information, obtaining delivery details and managing direct deliveries
  • Managing and checking coedition and frontlist files, using our online portal for plotter checking and corrections stage of the process
  • Closely monitoring schedules and keeping all coeditions on track to meet schedule dates
  • Working with the creative team on startups for new titles.
  • Organising colour proofing for new titles with our repro house
  • Supporting line manager and wider production team as require

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a production department as a production assistant or junior controller for a minimum of six months would be preferred
  • Experience of working on colour books; additional mono experience would be ideal but not essential
  • Experience of managing print scheduling
  • Clear and effective communicator able to build and maintain excellent internal and external working relationships
