Data Standards Officer - Data and Analysis - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ

The starting salary is £45,073, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.

The salary is broken down as £42,232 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £50,385 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

With data increasingly important in the fight against terrorism, we need your expertise.

As part of our Data & Analysis Pillar, you'lldevelop data standards and a common data model for CTP that aligns with those of our strategic partners and wider law enforcement.


This varied and crucial role demands the ability to set and monitor data standards; build links across the public sector; and explore new, more efficient ways of making the most of insight.

Key Skills
We're looking for people who are passionate about data, technology and/or public sector digital delivery.


Your key skills will be:

  • Able to develop, set and monitor data standards for an organisation
  • Communicating the business benefit of data standards, and championing and governing them across the organisation
  • Building relationships with data standards communities across the public sector and wider industry
  • Identifying best practice and new opportunities for introducing data standards to CTP
  • A creative approach to setting data standards within a networked organisation such as Counter Terrorism Policing
  • Understanding data governance, how this applies to data architecture and how it works in relation to other organisational governance structures
  • An ability to explore new, more efficient and effective ways of deriving value from data
  • An ability to optimise and design data to support business opportunities
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation with new tools and uses of data
  • Working within a strategic context and communicating how data initiatives meet strategic goals
  • Familiar with data analytical software and experience of identifying data quality issues.
