Litter Free Dorset Support Officer

37 hours per week - Fixed term until 29 March 2025

£22,777 - £25,409

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised officer to join our multi-discipline team hosted by Dorset Council in a supporting role.


As the first point of contact for Litter Free Dorset, you will collaborate closely with the team and work alongside partner organisations and community groups to support the positive impact of Litter Free Dorset's projects and campaigns.


Litter Free Dorset is a hosted partnership based at County Hall in Dorchester and is part of the wider group making up the Environmental Advice Team (EAT).

EAT, along with other specialist environmental teams, make up the Coast and Greenspace Service within Environment & Wellbeing under Place Services in the wider Place Directorate.


What you can expect to be doing:

Working with a friendly and professional team of people who share a passion for the protecting Dorset's inland, coastal, and marine environments.


  • You will be responsible for the daytoday support of the Litter Free Dorset (LFD) team, in the development and delivery of individual campaigns and projects.
  • Assisting project officers, organisation of meetings, administration of the LFD forum, managing social media and other communication platforms, and providing administrative support.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining LFD comms channels, including creating engaging content for social media accounts, and keeping the website up to date.
  • As well as this you will be required to plan and host events representing Litter Free Dorset. This will include designing marketing material, loading and driving vans, lifting equipment and installing gazebos, some lone working and engaging with the general public.
  • You will be the first point of contact for all enquiries from partners, members of the public, volunteers and external organisations.
  • The post holder will need to be highly organised with strong attention to detail, excellent communication and people skills, and an interest in environmental issues.
  • This post requires travel to meetings and events. You must have a driving license and a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
