- Write concise scopes of work to commission 3rd party suppliers, evaluate proposals and negotiate the commercial agreement.
- Produce statistics and KPIs on fleets (i.e. reliability, technical casualties (MTIN), delay minutes, and repeat defects). Produce Engineering Change packs in compliance with ScotRail procedures, including the production of risk assessments to support the change.
- Undertake and manage joint investigations with appropriate parties in relation to the fleets as required.
- Support the Senior Fleet Engineers to write business cases for enhancements and changes to rolling stock.
- Represent ScotRail on any cross-industry fleet initiatives or projects (i.e. User Groups) as and when directed by the Senior Fleet Engineer
- Collaborate with the Engineering Standards team to resolve any arising safety technical issues.
- Computer literate and good working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Project management skills
- Experience in the use of quality management systems and problem-solving techniques.
- Member of a professional engineering body

As Fleet Engineer you will report to the Senior Fleet Engineer to manage the delivery of projects and performance improvements on the ScotRail fleet.
The role will monitor and improve the technical reliability of the fleet.Deliver assigned projects, ensuring compliance with applicable legislative and Industry Group Standards.
Hold (or qualified by experience) a recognised technical qualification in Engineering e.g., Ability to plan and achieve business and engineering objectives.
Appointees must provide a basic disclosure Scotland check and at least 2 satisfactory references and complete a six-month probation period.
Training:
Training initially involves a 1-day Induction training programme
Medical Fitness:
Due to the nature of the post and rail industry safety requirements there are certain medical & fitness standards that you would require to meet.
