Warehouse Operative
Cumbernauld, Glasgow £11.45 dayshift & £14.31 Backshift


Responsible for carrying out the tasks and duties as required within the Warehouse department, fully co-operating with the Warehouse Manager and other functional team members, to ensure the safe and effective running of the department as a whole at all times.


MAIN DUTIES:


  • Driving Counterbalance lifting equipment and utlising handheld scanning technology, you will have responsibility for:
  • Ensuring production lines are kept running with the timely supply of raw materials to the production facility.
  • Ensuring raw materials are picked accurately and transferred in a timely manner to minimise/eliminate production waiting losses, ensuring correct stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Returning any unused items to correct locations and updating records accurately.
  • Ensuring the accurate and prompt picking and dispatch of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Loading/unloading delivery vehicles using FLT equipment safely and in accordance with relevant timeframes.
  • Ensuring that all stock movements and counting exercises are recorded in a precise and timely manner to maximise accurate 'live' stock visibility in the IT system.
  • Participating in quarterly stock takes (4 times/year) that take place over weekends.
  • Ensuring that all goods inwards are booked onto the IT system in an accurate and timely fashion and stored in an appropriate manner that is in accordance with the company's QA system.
  • Ensuring full adherence to GMP/SOP so that areas of control and responsibility are always 'audit ready' by adhering to company hygiene and HACCP standards, ensuring allergen protocols are maintained at all times.
  • Maintaining and completing all required documentation as per BRC accreditation standards in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Operating and maintaining in good order any equipment used in the warehouse within the limit of trained capabilities, reporting any operational defects and remedial repairs immediately.
  • Working within the company quality, legal and health & safety standards
    as a minimum and as a basis for driving continuous improvement in own areas of responsibility.
  • Accurately recording all batch number information and that such is entered onto the IT system in a timely manner, and that all sampling procedures are carried out as per company quality system requirements.

ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES

  • A minimum of 1 years' experience working in a similar role in a similar environment.
  • Valid FLT License
  • Possessing a good degree of numeracy and literacy (English language).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Computer literate to at least basic level
  • A team player who fully cooperates with others to ensure the smooth and efficient running of all operational areas affected by own work.
  • Able to prioritise own work to ensure the efficient running of the warehouse.
  • Licensed and capable of operating all existing warehouse equipment and machinery.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to other functional areas within the business.
  • Able to complete all requisite documentation legibly and accurately.
  • A basic understanding of allergen control and segregation requirements.
  • A basic understanding of HACCP principles.
  • Trained in Basic Food Hygiene.
  • Trained in Manual Handling operations.
  • A 'safetyfirst' mentality.

  • Able to work under pressure without letting standards slip below the minimum requirements.
  • Flexible in approach to meet changing demands without compromising operational efficiency.
  • Able to work effectively and safely with mínimal supervision.
