Job description:

The DIO People Team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Strategic Workforce Planner to join our close-knit and hardworking team.

The role will help to enhance delivery of DIO's Strategic Workforce Planning capability, helping us understand our current workforce better, identify what challenges we will face in the future, and provide evidence-based options on how we might address those challenges.

As an example, you will be able to clearly articulate our current and future workforce mix by grade, profession and skill set and be able to map this to our current and future customer demand signal.

You will track our recruitment metrics and be able to advise on attrition rates, predicting our future inflows/outflows whilst determining the numbers of and with what skills our future workforce needs.

You will assist with constructing the interventions that will enable us to meet these needs. You will help us to develop the tools needed to meet these aspirations.

The successful applicant will build relationships with key stakeholders ensuring consistency in our approach to the use of the workforce data, identifying critical roles for future forecasts.

You will ensure a standardised and organisation-wide approach to capacity planning and optimisation.

We've grown organically over the years and identified significant fragmentation across the divisions in DIO, so we need someone with Strategic Workforce experience to help us create coherent plans.

You'll engage all our divisions across DIO to understand and map them in detail, understanding existing and future workforce needs.

You'll then work to ensure we have robust plan in place to support our future workforce.

DIO requires a detailed understanding of its workforce risks and approach the data showing our capability gaps with confidence and creativity, you will bring practical experience to the role, demonstrating how you can contribute and deliver on identifying our future workforce needs.

You'll benefit from a c.27% employer pension contribution, as well as plenty of opportunities for development, access to funded professional qualifications and specialist training including CIPD courses

We recognise that the best people for the job may have commitments outside of work, so we're pleased to promote flexible working to support our colleagues in balancing work and home life and offer a hybrid working approach.

You will benefit from significant flexible working options in line with our "Smarter Working" policy.

Person specification:

Working as a Workforce Planning Specialist, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing relationships with key stakeholders including wider People Team, finance, strategy and business planning colleagues across the organisation in order to understand the current sources of workforce data, intelligence and information available, and how these can be effectively combined.
  • Actively build networks across DIO and other MOD business areas to seek best practice in the use of People/Workforce analytics.
  • Shaping and informing workforce plans and strategies particularly by using analysis and insight to reveal patterns and correlations.
  • Using a range of approaches and tools to investigate workforce issues, trends and opportunities including deepdiving on issues of concern.
  • Producing clear presentations of workforce insights generated, including regular presentation to senior committees including DIO ExCo, DIO Board, DIO People Committee and DIO Customer Delivery Committee presenting data and conclusions logically and concisely in the most appropriate format.
