An exciting vacancy has arisen for an HR Adviser in our Edinburgh office providing support across our 4 offices. Part-time or full-time applicants will be considered.

You will have a generalist role as part of a busy HR team. This will encompass recruitment at all levels, including trainee and summer student cycles. You will be the key point of contact for recruitment for specific departments assisting in recruitment drives. You will also support line managers with ER matters and general issues.

As part of the role, you will provide general administrative support dealing with enquiries to the HR inbox, Law Society processes, policy development, etc.

The role is varied and requires excellent prioritisation skills and attention to detail.


You will be responsible for:


  • Managing and streamlining recruitment processes
  • Advising and coaching hiring managers on the recruitment process and interviews
  • Assisting with graduate and summer placement recruitment organising law fairs and assessment centres; liaising with departments to coordinate the placements
  • Overseeing the HR life cycle and supporting the HR Administrator with any procedures
  • Monitoring and responding to general HR enquires within the HR mailbox and from line managers
  • Ensuring the HR system and electronic records are maintained in line with GDPR requirements
  • Supporting other team members with the monthly payroll processes accurately and timeously
  • Assisting with Law Society procedures for trainee solicitors
  • Advising on employee relations, absence review meetings and general HR issues
  • Managing maternity/paternity leave administration
  • Assisting the E, D & I Group and any activities arising
  • Supporting any wellbeing initiatives
  • General administrative tasks ie contracts of employment, contractual amendments, etc
  • Undertaking projects on an ad hoc basis

What you will need to succeed:

  • One to two years' experience within a generalist HR role
  • CIPD qualification
  • Employment law and HR policy knowledge
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Have a proactive, innovative and flexible approach to work
  • Be able to work under pressure and be resultfocussed
