Technical Authority - Power and Propulsion


Location:

Salary:
Up to £76,000 depending upon skills and experience

What you'll be doing:
  • Delivery of Power & Propulsion hazards/risks to ALARP, preparation/approval of safety and other design disclosure and safety documents, including attendance at Product Safety & Environment Working Groups and Hazard Review Working Group meetings
  • Approval of all Power & Propulsion domain technical specifications for Canadian Surface Combatant supplier contract
  • Approval of all key deliverables produced within BAE including reviews of OEM bids, design disclosure, engineering interfaces, safety, materials, VCRIs, Test Schedules and submissions for LR Class Approvals
  • Provision of SQEP guidance to the Power & Propulsion engineering delivery team
  • Approval of all key deliverables produced by OEMs, including technical bid evaluations, assessments of engineering design disclosure, engineering interfaces, safety, materials, software, VCRIs, Test Schedules and submissions for LR Class Approvals
  • Delivery of high quality change definitions into the BAE process for domain issues
  • Monthly Engineering metrics and reports
  • Input to Project Zonal Reviews, BAE Engineering Lifecycle Design Reviews and Project Design Reviews
  • Monthly reporting to Chief Engineer, escalating issues as necessary

Your skills and experiences:


Essential:


  • Competent Safety practitioner
  • Strong background in Naval Engineering Power & Propulsion design and associated practices
  • Good understanding of maritime design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, integration and testing lifecycle and processes

Desirable:


  • Capable of understanding issues within a multidisciplinary engineering teams and balancing conflicting requirements
  • Broad knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, standards and codes of practice

Our Power & Propulsion Team:


As the Power & Propulsion Technical Authority, you will exercise Technical Authority in all Power & Propulsion domains, delegated by and reporting to the Canadian Surface Combatant Chief Engineer.

You will provide your expert Power & Propulsion knowledge and advice to ensure efficient delivery into our Canadian Programme.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an exciting and long-term naval defence programme in Canada.

There may also be the possibility for travel to Canada and across Europe and the UK to OEM's and Suppliers.
