The Role


Our dedicated Real Estate Finance team is consistently ranked as Tier 1 real estate finance in the UK, Europe and globally.


The Real Estate Finance Group provides the firm's UK and international clients with a single source of multi-disciplinary advice that covers all aspects of the transactions which we are engaged on (finance, real estate, tax, corporate, capital markets and restructuring advice).


Our experienced international team provides a full-service approach not just in the UK, but in Europe, the Middle East, the US and Asia Pacific.

Their combined expertise spans the complete spectrum of asset classes involving real estate finance products including:

- commercial real estate loan origination investment finance
- development finance
- mezzanine/junior finance

  • CRE restructurings and workouts
- real estate infrastructure finance (including data centres)

  • Islamic real estate finance
- complex cross border and multi-jurisdictional financings
- performing and non-performing loan portfolio sales, purchases and financings

  • CMBS, CRE CLOs and other structured deals financing commercial real estate assets
  • CRE loanonloan and other back leverage structures


We advise across the entire range of market participants, including lenders, sponsors, issuers and originators, arrangers and dealers, trustees, swap providers and servicers through to governments and regulators and rating agencies.


Who you will work with


You will be part of our combined Real Estate Finance & Structured Debt team, which remains at the cutting edge of the market.

Uniquely among our competitors, we combine our real estate finance and our structured debt practice into one group, thereby enabling our team to advise on all aspects of the transactions listed above.


You will be delivering to a wide range of clients, particularly European and US commercial and investment banks, non-bank debt providers, funds, real estate investors and developers and corporates.


The Real Estate Finance and Structured Debt team in London is made up of 12 Partners and approximately 65 lawyers and trainees.


What you will be responsible for
You will advise clients on all aspects of the transactions listed above both in the UK and internationally.

You will be regularly working as part of cross-border and interdisciplinary teams essential to the delivery of the complex and multidisciplinary transactions we offer our clients.


As a lawyer, your remit will be to:

  • Draft core legal documents clearly, accurately and quickly.
  • Deliver clear, concise and tailored legal advice to clients.
  • Grow and expand your legal knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Manage complex transactions and drive the execution process.
  • Help to develop client relationships, including through client training and organising and attending suitable networking events.
  • Carry out effective matter administration including preparing fee quotes, file opening and conflicts clearance processes, providing fee updates and assisting in fee discussions.
  • Drive the efficient delivery of our transactions by using our multiple best delivery tools: e.g. templates, Legal Support Centre, Resource Management, Legal Project Managers, Matter Balance Reports.

Your Experience

Who we are looking for
A Junior-Mid Lawyer who can demonstrate experience in real estate finance.

Your knowledge and experience will probably have been gained at a leading practice with a reputation for work in real estate finance.


An outstanding academic history and proven first rate legal skills, combined with a strong reputation amongst existing clients for providing commercial solutions to complex problems and demonstrating excellent transaction management skills.

You will naturally be able to demonstrate document drafting skills. You should demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills, along with a high level of commercial awareness.

You will have some experience of collaborating with multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary teams.

It is crucial that you can demonstrate an appetite for business development, client relationship management and thought leadership.
