    Description

    We are looking to hire a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for a renowned engineering group dedicated to the precise control and movement of fluids in critical scenarios.

    Our Engineering Division specializes in creating made-to-order highly specialized flow control valves.

    Hours of Work: 37 hours per week. Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

    Location: Poole, Dorset, Office-based. Hybrid work options available based on business and individual requirements.

    Job Summary

    As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will report to the Engineering Manager and play a key role in supporting the Product Development strategy for profitable growth and continuous enhancement. This position involves close collaboration with the Projects, Production, Quality Engineering teams, and Manufacturing Department.

    Responsibilities

    • Design cutting-edge products within set timelines to meet business objectives.
    • Engage with customers during the quotation and pre-production phases to grasp their needs and offer innovative solutions.
    • Bring innovation to product design to optimize performance characteristics and functionality for a competitive edge.
    • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, legislation, certification, and customer requirements.
    • Prepare design reports, stress calculations, tolerance analysis, and other necessary validations.
    • Leverage specialist knowledge in technology and industrial applications for New Product Development.
    • Lead design validation and testing, including R&D activities and resource planning.
    • Drive concurrent engineering by considering manufacturing processes, assembly, testing, and inspection capabilities.
    • Coordinate project teams to efficiently manage pre-production workloads.
    • Review and approve work done by Design Engineers of all levels, offering mentorship when needed.
    • Implement VAVE in product design to reduce manufacturing costs and meet cost targets.
    • Provide detailed instructions for manufacturing, inspection, and R&D testing within the New Product Development process.

    Requirements

    • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
    • Expertise in valve design technologies and relevant areas such as materials, mechanics, fluid power, and thermodynamics.
    • Knowledge of fluid power applications, circuit design, component selection, and control systems.
