    Job summary

    Sirona's Integrated Community Diabetes and Nutrition Services have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Dietitian with a passion for service improvement to join our leadership team as the Clinical Lead for Nutrition and Dietetics, delivering NHS clinical services to the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) area.

    You will provide knowledge, experience, and support to a team of 13 band 5, 6 & 7 dietitians alongside the Clinical Leads for Diabetes, and Education and Development, and Diabetes Specialist Nurses, all supported by an administration team.

    You will be passionate in delivering high quality services and have experience of working within community services and as part of a larger integrated health and social care system.

    Main duties of the job

    The purpose of this role is to provide, strong, visible and credible senior clinical leadership within the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Diabetes and Nutrition Services in the planning, provision, development and improvement of service.

    The role will encompass Clinical Leadership across the whole Diabetes and Nutrition service, with a focus on the development, implementation and monitoring of standards of Nutrition and Dietetics.

    To be completed in conjunction with the other service Clinical Leads and, Clinical and Operational Lead.

    The role will have a clinical focus, ensuring the provision of high-quality clinical care, ensuring clinical effectiveness and efficiency. The Clinical Lead for Nutrition and Dietetics will support clinical supervision within the service.

    The role has a clinical component which will be agreed between the successful candidate and Clinical and Operational Lead based on prior specialist experience and interest.

    Person Specification

    Skills, Experience and Knowledge

    Essential

  • Advanced level clinical skills in the knowledge, management, and support of patients within at least one pathway within the Diabetes and Nutrition Service
  • Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and shared decision making.
  • Experience of leading and managing people/teams and effective clinical supervision of staff.
  • Experience of working across organisational and professional boundaries to improve care including challenging service delivery and provision.
  • Understanding of the primary care, secondary care, and provider interface.
  • High level analytical and complex decision-making skills
  • Current knowledge of at least one of the services clinical pathways, including national and local guidelines and evidence base via current research and journals
  • Desirable

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in coaching team members
  • Knowledge of local, national, strategic, and operational policy developments and an awareness of their implications.
  • Qualifications and Training

    Essential

  • Current professional registration, such as NMC as a 1st level Registered or HCPC registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within nutrition and dietetics and /or leadership
  • Desirable

  • Masters level clinical qualification or evidence of working at masters level.
