Introduction
The Project Delivery Team, within the Strategic Estates Directorate in Parliament, takes great pride in looking after and improving the buildings of Parliament itself, as custodians of the Estate.
Having recently undergone a reorganisation, the team will focus on a portfolio management approach, alongside an enhanced focus on construction quality, cost scrutiny and consistency of approach whilst strengthening opportunities for professional development and career progression across the team.
The Role
Assistant Project Leaders are responsible for projects valued between £50,000 and £2.5 million, escalating issues, queries or concerns to their line manager.
Assistant Project Leaders may also be given responsibility for various work streams coming from other larger projects, with Project Leaders and Senior Project Leaders managing higher value or more complex projects.
You will be expected to achieve business and project delivery excellence, high customer service and professional standards, and compliance with statutory, regulatory and legislative requirements.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of how construction/refurbishment/conservation projects are delivered and ability to analyse information from a range of sources and draw logical conclusions.
- Knowledge of process for appointing and overseeing external consultants and contractors to ensure project delivery is to time, budget, and agreed quality standards.
- Demonstrable financial and budget management skills.
- Demonstrable experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders at a variety of levels.
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively, both orally and in writing, and adapting communication style to meet the needs of the audience, including explaining technical issues to a lay audience.
- Ability to lead potential risk areas, working with a risk manager and escalating as appropriate from IPA framework.
