We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and motivated QICN registered consultant clinical/applied neuropsychologist to lead our neuropsychology service provision here at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust.


Neuropsychology at LTHTR provides input across a diverse range of neurological conditions and works across both inpatient and outpatient settings alongside our MDT colleagues.


The post-holder would have line management responsibilities for the clinical (neuro)psychologists and psychology practitioners / assistants who work within the neuropsychology specialism in the psychology service.

The neuropsychology service is dedicated to providing a range of input for the neuroscience population at LTHTr, across inpatient and outpatient pathways, to support the Trust priorities and identified KPIs.


The consultant neuropsychologist will have a key role in providing strategic oversight and management across the referral pathways for service provision within neuropsychology services; working with the neuropsychology staff team and stakeholders to optimise the provision, in line with national guidelines and best practice.

The post would suit a clinical/applied neuropsychologist with substantial operational, strategic and management experience.

The diverse nature of the clinical work and commensurate leadership required is also such that this post requires the post-holder to hold the QICN and be on the register of qualified clinical neuropsychologists.

Experience of working across both inpatient and outpatient neurology settings is also desirable.

Our Psychology Service delivers a range of highly specialised evidence based psychological assessments and interventions for patients with chronic and acute physical health problems in line with NSFs, NICE Guidance and DH recommendations.

As a team we make a unique contribution to the psychological care of adult patients across a number of Divisions and Clinical Business Units within the Trust and to the training and support of staff including undergraduate medical students.

The service has an excellent reputation with patients, staff, local universities and we strive to align regionally and nationally as a provider of highly specialist clinical and professional services.

We are well placed for effective integrated working with acute clinical teams supporting patient care, service development and delivery.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To be an experienced and capable clinician, clinical leader and professionally responsible for the daytoday management and leadership of neuropsychology services and, where necessary, to support the clinical health psychology service.
