About us:


This part-time BR-UK Administrator post (0.5 FTE, 18.25 hours a week) is based in UCL's Centre for Behaviour Change (CBC), a world-leading, interdisciplinary research centre specialising in behaviour change.


The postholder will support the CBC's input to a multi-University and organisation research consortium, the Behavioural Research UK Leadership Hub [BR-UK], of which Professor Susan Michie, Director of the CBC, is a Co-Director.

BR-UK is funded by UK Research and Innovation and is a national behavioural research hub formed to address major societal challenges.


Professors Linda Bauld (Edinburgh) and Susan Michie (UCL) are Co-Directors with co-investigators (CIs) from eight Universities and five policy, practice and commercial organisations in all four UK nations.

About the role:


The Administrator will be a key member of the project administration and will provide high level administrative and general secretarial support to the Behavioural Research UK Leadership Hub (BR-UK) team at UCL (12 staff across 4 UCL Faculties).


This will involve undertaking a range of administrative duties including general administration, financial processing (expenses, invoices), and making travel and meeting arrangements.

The post will involve some joint working with the other 0.5 FTE BR-UK Administrator based at University of Edinburgh.


Duties and responsibilities

The postholder will:
- provide general administrative support.

This includes but is not limited to:

being a key point of contact for BR-UK, meeting organisation and servicing (including meeting date co-ordination, room and refreshment booking, note taking), diary management for Co-Director and organising travel itineraries for team members, maintaining accurate electronic and paper filing systems on finances and programme objectives, and preparation of reports and publications.


  • Support the BR-UK Co-Director, Deputy Director, and Senior Research Fellows with routine administrative activities (such as printing, photocopying, filing, preparation of documents or data entry), making travel arrangements, and organising and coordinating webinars and workshops.
  • Coordinate internal and external communications (including digital communications), liaising with our CBC Training, Events and Communications Manager.

About you:

We would anticipate that the postholder would have similar qualifications, skills and experience to the following:

  • As a minimum 5 GCSE's (grade A*-C) or equivalent.
- _Either_ an office administration qualification (NVQ 3, ONC or equivalent) and a good level of experience in a similar administrative or secretarial role; _or_ good all-round office skills with significant experience in a similar administrative or secretarial role.

  • Experience in working in administration in any of these settings: further or higher education, research, health or social care.
  • Experience of working with social media; experience of updating websites and working with press offices is desirable.
  • Experience of using financial systems, for ordering goods/services, and processing expenses claims.
  • Experience of managing travel for team members.
  • Ability to work efficiently with colleagues whose main work bases are located across the UK.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to any situation with selfconfidence, discretion, confidentiality, the capacity to remain calm and to work effectively under pressure.

What we offer:


The post is offered at Grade 6 which has salary range: £34,605 to £39,980 incl London Allowance (Aug 2023 scale); pro-rated; the starting salary is expected to be £34,605 pro-rated.
