Job Purpose:
Provide administrative and organisational support to the technical department


Scope:

The Technical/Engineering Trainee will assist the other employees within the technical department with the administrative tasks required to complete their work effectively, whilst learning a vast amount of skills working alongside and shadowing experienced colleagues.


The trainee will have responsibilities for submitting designs/drawings to contractors/consultants and statutory authorities via Builderstorm, processing fees/invoices in-line with received quotations, liaising with statutory authorities for progress updates, and assisting, when required, with the review process to ensure that the design is both practically possible and sits within budget.


A fundamental part of this programme will involve the training and up-skilling of the individual to develop their engineering knowledge and construction understanding.


This training will include the opportunity to complete a part-time degree (1 day a week) in an engineering-related degree funded by Castle Green Homes. This programme is targeted towards a college leaver with a keen interest in civil/structural/geo-technical engineering and construction and is motivated to learn and progress.


Key Responsibilities:

The submission of technical drawings/designs to Builderstorm (document handling software) for use by CGH employees and sub-contractors. Training will be provided once in the role.

Submission of design information to statutory authorities (Councils etc.)

Arranging signing/sealing of agreement documentation (e.g. S104, S38, S278, SAB) with in-house personnel and external authorities.

Submission and liaison with NHBC/LABC to provide design information, monitor engineering conditions and confirm site visits.

Assist with the cost assessments on the technical viability of new sites.


Communicate with consultants undertaking site investigations, topographical survey and other assessment reports on land acquired to ensure efficient progression of works.


Contribute to improving the business, protecting, and enhancing the reputation of the company, by putting forward new ideas and, when requested to do so, implementing change.


Work alongside the development engineers/assistant development engineers to liaise with Highway and Sewer Inspectors along with Statutory Authority officials to secure the adoption of all site infrastructure.


Assist in the production of layouts and technical report for Land Appraisals; and required working drawings and answer technical queries that may arise.

Assist and guide the preparation of outline engineering schematics for Land Appraisals.

Issue engineering information to Commercial, Construction and Sales departments.

Assist in the production of services drawings and engineering drawings (external works, as-built surveys etc.)

Build strong working relationships with all functions within the Division.

Work with external consultants and managers in both Local Authorities and Statutory Bodies.

Comply with responsibilities as laid down in the Group's Health, Safety and Environment Policy.
