MACHINE OPERATOR PRECISION GRINDER

(4-DAY WEEK, MONDAY - THURSDAY)

As our Precision Grinder, you will be responsible for machining standard and bespoke parts for the build of our gear, rotor, thread milling and grinding machines.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Set and run semiautomatic and conventional grinding machines including Cylindrical, Surface and Bore.
  • Produce parts as per technical drawing, measuring output for exact adherence to specification.
  • Inspect own work using conventional measurement techniques, diagnose errors and correct any deviation.
  • Carry out regular machine maintenance and general upkeep.
  • Skills and attributes:
  • Experience of operating a range of Grinding machines including Cylindrical, Surface and Bore, including settingup.
  • Experience of producing complex precision engineered components to very tight tolerances, can be as little as 2 microns.
  • Must be able to read technical drawings and discern required component specification and measure output for compliance.
  • Keen to learn other machine operations with training.
  • Flexible and can work overtime including weekend if required.
  • Shows pride in their work and maintains a tidy and clean work area; possesses some knowledge of 'Lean' principles.
  • Understands and adheres to Health & Safety regulations / standards within an engineering environment.
  • Has the energy and capability to operate one or more heavy machinery for long periods.

Qualifications:


  • Proven time served machine operator (Grinder) achieved through traditional City & Guilds craft route or equivalent, or Modern Advanced Apprenticeship, Level
  • Further training in Health & Safety, FLT and Lean manufacturing would be advantageous.

Salary & Benefits:


  • Starting Salary £15.52 per hour (premium rates for overtime working)
  • 4day week, 37 hours, Mon Thurs: 07:00 16:4 Holidays 5 weeks increasing to 6 with service, Public Holidays 8, Life Assurance, Matched Pension Contribution, Sick Pay Scheme, Employee Assistance Programme and Cash Health Plan


You may have experience of the following: Grinder, CNC Grinder, Machine Operator, CNC Programmer, CNC Engineer, Machinist, CNC Setter, Manufacturing Operator, etc.
