Job Introduction
The purpose of the Skills & Employability department is to improve people's lives through learning and training, leading to employment and/or increased personal fulfilment, and to support the growth of Staffordshire's economy and society;

  • Ensuring provision of a wide range of highquality learning opportunities to reflect identified local needs and wishes of Staffordshire's 16+ residents, by enabling provider partnerships and through direct delivery.
  • Providing support, with a focus on targeted groups, to improve participation in learning across Staffordshire.
  • Ensuring provision of workrelated experience and advice to increase the employability of targeted groups and/or individuals.
  • Working with providers and partners to ensure that Staffordshire's social, employment and economic demands are met.
The Community Learning Service Direct Delivery Unit is part of the Skills and Employability department.

The department receives funding from the Education and Skills Funding Agency to deliver non-accredited Community Learning and accredited Adult Skills programmes in the community across the district of Staffordshire.

Main Responsibilities
As a Skills for Life tutor within our team, you will:

  • deliver a high-quality learning experience to learners on programmes within community venues.
- use a range of teaching methods and learning resources, to support the delivery of vibrant programmes that promote progression.
- plan learning programmes to meet the needs of individual learners and groups across Staffordshire.
- provide effective course administration, including the completion of learner and tutor documentation and maintain appropriate records, including schemes of works and lesson plans.
- identify progression routes and support learners into further learning, volunteering and/or employment by offering a curriculum designed to meet with local personal and economic need.
- to plan, prepare, deliver and support learners for examinations and liaise with other assessors and quality assurance teams.


You will have:
- effective communication and inter-personal skills and will be passionate about adult learning.
- the energy and enthusiasm to be enterprising, innovative and forward thinking to lead and develop our Skills for Life provision.
- knowledge and experience of developing and delivering non-accredited community learning and accredited adult skills provision and programmes.
- experience of planning, designing and delivering programmes of learning for adults, whilst complying with quality assurance and compliance requirements.
- confidence in implementing up to date teaching and pedagogy within the classroom and online learning platforms.
- a vision to adapt the curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment to suit the needs of a diverse range of learners.
- a track record of success with a passion, enthusiasm and flair to join our innovative and progressive team
- experience of complying with funding regulations and Ofsted requirements.
