Working Pattern:
Shift work 7:30-3:30PM, 12:30 - 8:30PM including alternate weekends and bank holidays

The difference you will make as a Youth Engagement Officer


You will be responsible for support plans, risk assessments, customer reviews, undertaking assessments for both our 16/17yrs and young parents, developing parenting skills and independent living skills.

You will have experience of working with young people and young parents and have demonstrable experience of parenting work and undertaking assessments, family support, child protection and some experience of care proceedings.

You will also be expected to undertake group work, take the lead on complex cases as well as supporting colleagues with cases.


About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • We are looking for a motivated, flexible, and committed individual to work across our exceptional, 24 hour 16/17yrs complex needs and young parent schemes in Hackney.
  • You will have an indepth knowledge of child development and the impact of abuse on a child's wellbeing.
  • You will have experience of planning 11 work with hard to engage young people and parents, undertaking observations as part of the assessment process.
  • You will already have or be willing to work towards training to deliver a recognized parenting course e.g., Triple P, Mellow Parenting, Webster Stratton etc.

Role Profile

  • Work within a mixed staff team of 9 on a rota basis


  • Monday

  • Friday between 8am 8.30pm, including 2 weekend days per month
  • Ensure the delivery of a highquality service to complex needs 16/17yr and young parent's accommodation service in Hackney
  • Have relevant experience of working with young people and young parents in the child protection and care proceedings arena
  • Liaise with the professional network, including daily interaction and teamwork with Social Services, YOT, family courts, and safeguarding teams
  • Prepare reports for Child Protection meetings, Core Group meetings, Young Parents Panels, Review Meetings and Care Proceedings
  • Attend and present the organization at panels and forums when required. Meet targets and deadlines as set by One Support's management team
**Person specification

Essential


Experience in preparing clear and concise reports for meetings related to the welfare of a young person/ child is a must - e.g., child protection meetings, child in need meetings, in house review meetings, strategy meetings, legal planning meetings and care proceedings.


Desirable

  • Applicants should be educated to degree level or a professional qualification in a relevant field and experience of program delivery with either children or families including experience of Psychologically informed environments (PIEs).
