    AIM AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    The Director of Management Information will be responsible and lead functions that cover

    funding & ILR, student records, business intelligence, systems, exams, curriculum support and audit functions. Providing a high quality, trusted and compliant Management information service.

    To provide leadership and direction to the College's Data and Funding, Reporting Services and Examinations teams, ensuring that they are managed effectively and efficiently.

    The postholder will ensure that the department is able to recognise, anticipate and meet internal and external obligations and deadlines, strongly managing department priorities, monitoring ongoing tasks and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to the College community, from their extensive knowledge of Funding methodologies.

    To ensure timely and accurate information, statistical analysis and management reporting is provided to internal and external stakeholders to inform decision making and support accountability.

    To lead in the development of bids for new funding sources, working across College to identify opportunities, appropriate funding and writing the bids to ensure the College is able to develop and offer new initiatives to support local and regional communities.

    Provide assurance to the Principal, that the College is compliant with data protection law.

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Data, reporting and examinations

  • Establish and enforce data management policies, standards, and protocol to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of College data.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of MIS systems, databases, and reporting tools to meet the evolving needs of the College with the Data Support Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements including those mandated by government agencies and regulatory bodies and that data returns are complete, error free and timely.
  • Liaising with external bodies in relation to information or funding requirements including, but not limited to: -ESFA -WMCA -OFS -Awarding bodies
  • Ensure compliance and credible systems are operational including schedules for: -Compliance testing, including audits of data and documentation -PDSATS -ESFA Funding and monitoring reports -ILR Warnings -Other credibility testing systems yet to be released by external stakeholders.
  • To maintain an up-to-date, expert-level knowledge of current funding policy, share this with the Executive Leadership Team and to anticipate and respond to changes in the external funding environment.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to maximise funding, commercial growth and increased revenue.
  • Identify funding challenges and advise the SLT of their implications and potential mitigation.
  • To ensure that the College audit and funding returns are accurate and clean.
  • To develop and manage systems that permit the accurate and timely enrolment of learners.
  • To provide College managers with advice and guidance with regard to funding rules and eligibility.
  • Oversee centralised examinations services with the Exams Manager, ensuring prompt and accurate registration of all learners and supporting devolved administrators to meet business expectations in a timely manner.
  • To lead teams in a professional manner, focusing on developing a client service culture through a business partnering and decision support approach.

  • Information and insight

  • Ensure the provision of consistent high quality data to underpin all audits (financial, Ofsted, ILRs)
  • Develop, devise implement and monitor a reporting strategy to ensure that the College's information needs, to both internal and external stakeholders, are met.
  • Lead the development and delivery of timely, accurate, and insightful management reports, dashboards, and analytics to support decision-making at all levels of the College.
  • To support by providing data for curriculum planning. Bids and funding
  • To lead funding and bidding opportunities, searching out new opportunities and creating successful bids.
  • To have oversight of all such projects and report on the progress of College projects ensuring that outcomes are achieved.
    Data Protection
  • Lead the data protection function to ensure UK GDPR compliance.
  • To provide effective management of the College's Freedom of Information Policy and to provide guidance and advice to the College with regard to matters of compliance.
  • Corporate Responsibilities

  • Provide positive leadership by creating a dynamic, supportive, and innovative environment that encourages commitment to the College and the achievement of high standards of performance.
  • Input into, and develop, the strategic and operational priorities of the College; lead policy development and present recommendations to the College Executive and the Corporation in respect of relevant strategic and operational matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments within the area of remit and best practice.
  • Manage budgets effectively and ensure the best use of public funds.
  • Provide professional advice to the Principal and Chief Executive and Corporation relating to areas of expertise and responsibility.
  • Report to the Corporation Board and its committees as appropriate and chair relevant College committees and working groups.
  • Relationships

  • Establish and maintain effective and productive relationships with funding bodies and other key stakeholders.
  • Establish positive relationships with other senior colleagues and work together to ensure the College runs efficiently and effectively.
  • College Standards and General Accountabilities

  • To promote the College mission, vision, ways of working and strategic themes and be personally committed to the College's ethos and approach.
  • Participate in staff reviews and development in line with College needs.
  • Agree objectives with the Line Manager and ensure they are achieved.

  • Be thoroughly aware of the College health and safety policies and procedures and ensure that employees/learners within your remit are fully aware of them. Seek to ensure appropriate implementation of such policies across all areas of responsibility.
  • Adhere to the Data Protection Act 2018 and be thoroughly aware of the College Data Protection Policy and Procedure and ensure that employees within your responsibility implement such policies. Meet the requirements of GDPR.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably required by line management.
  • To commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • To participate in the College's Performance Management Scheme and attend such training events as are necessary to enable him/her to carry out the duties of the job description.
  • To continually improve teaching, learning and assessment through proactive CPD and sharing best practice.
  • To actively participate in the College's Quality System, including quality improvement strategies and initiatives.
  • The job description is current at the date shown below and is a guide to the work the Vice Principal will be required to undertake. In consultation with the postholder, it may be changed from time to time by the College to meet changing circumstances.

    You will work to deliver the College's vision and overall mission and will lead through the College's value framework/ways of working.

    CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

    The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Academic Staff. The work pattern of a Lecturer is not necessarily linked to the traditional academic year.

  • SALARY

    The salary range for this post is from £59,562 to £66,519 per annum. Starting salary will be dependent upon experience and qualifications. Once you have successfully passed your probationary period, your salary will increase within the salary band on an annual incremental basis, until you reach the top of the salary scale.Increments are in August.

    PROFESSIONAL/TEACHING QUALIFICATION

    Applicants are required to hold a first degree or equivalent professional qualification, and also a full teaching qualification or be willing to undertake and gain the Diploma in Education and Training qualification, within 3 years of appointment.Successful applicants will be required to attend the course on-site as the College delivers the course in-house.

    MATHS AND ENGLISH

    All staff are required to have a minimum level 2 qualification in both English and Maths.If you are not already in receipt of one or both of these qualifications, you will be expected to obtain it (them) during your employment at the College.

    SAFEGUARDING

    The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

    All newly appointed staff will be required to undertake safeguarding training following their appointment.

    Heart of Worcestershire College adheres to the Department of Education's guidance on 'Keeping children safe in Education'.As part of your induction, you will be required to read and understand part 1 of this document.

    VALIDATION OF QUALIFICATIONS

    The College will undertake qualification validation by writing to the appropriate educational institute.Only those qualifications which are essential for the post will be followed up.

    HOURS OF WORK

    The hours of work will be based on 37hours per week. Actual hours of work to be agreed with the manager.

    DUTY MANAGER

    All managers are required to undertake duty manager cover.This will be a duty at one of the main campuses that are open in the evenings.This will happen several times per term.You will be notified by the co-ordinator of the dates and locations.Managers will cover

    ANNUAL LEAVE

    The post carries 37 annual leave days with an additional eight public bank holidays plus a further five concessionary days as 'leave to be taken at the Principal's discretion'.Annual leave will be pro rata if part time.

    Please note that only in exceptional circumstances, with your Directors permission, will staff be able to take more than 3 consecutive weeks of leave in any leave year.

    PENSION SCHEME

    The College operates an occupational pension scheme, namely the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

    PROBATIONARY PERIOD

    All newly appointed staff have to serve a 9-month probationary period.During the probationary period you will have to complete the Corporate staff induction, a Teaching and Learning Induction session if you deliver learning and additional mandatory courses on: Equality & Diversity session, Keeping Children safe in Education, Safeguarding Training session, Prevent, GDPR, Cyber Securityand Health & Safety training session. Failure to complete these will prevent you from successfully completing your probation.
