Role purpose:


The role is key member of the internal HR team working closely with the People Business Partners / Leads/ Co-ordinators and People Director, Learning and Development Team in providing support in critical case work, People policy and process updates, People Analytics and Learning and development.

This is a generalist HR role with the opportunity to support a wide range of initiatives across the HR agenda and scope for the role holder to discover and pursue activities that they are passionate about.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


Employee Relations:

The role holder will work alongside the Business Partners and in partnership with our outsourced provider to ensure that our colleagues and managers manage ER cases in line with our policies and our values.

Specifically, this role will have key stakeholder relationships supporting line managers with policy and best practice advice.

ER reporting and analysis is key, and the role holder will be expected to recommend proactive solutions based on trends and best practice.


Policy:

Advising our managers and colleagues based on expert knowledge of our people processes and policies is important in this role.

Contribution to policy development as part of the CITB HR Policy plan and programme is required which will include ownership for specified areas of policy and compliance (e.g. maternity or absence) and part of the team ensuring our communication, engagement and training of managers and colleagues is fit for purpose.


Data Analysis:

The role holder will be expected to be adept at reporting from our current HRIS system, ensuring relevant weekly and monthly reports are generated and shared with relevant stakeholders and HR colleagues to driving problem solving and proactivity based on trends.


Communication and Engagement:

For designated areas the role holder will be expected to manage and maintain sections of our intranet, developing content and communication plans that assist colleagues and managers in understanding our policies and processes.


Employee Experience:

As part of the overall engagement plan set out by the relevant People Lead the role holder will ensure own stakeholder groups understand and fully participate in the CITB engagement survey and action planning processes.

As part of the overall Wellbeing Plan the role holder will drive engagement and participation so that services and support is fully optimised.


Learning & Development:

Collaboration with our Learning & Development colleagues and HR Business Partners to design and develop materials, resources (including training) to build confidence and competence of our managers with people policies and processes.


Project Work:
When required this role will actively contribute to key projects. Areas of focus for CITB include Diversity and Inclusion, Wellbeing, Performance Management, Performance Development, Communication and Culture.


Knowledge and Experience:


Essential

  • Associate member of CIPD (Level 5 qualification or equivalent) with at least 2 years' experience of operating in a People Generalist role
  • Experience of managing stakeholders in a diverse business setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of best employment practice and how it is applied.
  • Experience of providing support and advisory services in employee relations areas such as, disciplinary up to dismissal, grievance, performance and attendance management. Case Management experience
  • Confidence with and experience in People HR IT systems
  • Strong IT and data analysis skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Desirable
Prior specialism in HR practice in defined areas (e.g. recruitment, policy, reward, resourcing, engagement)

People analytics

Project management


Special Conditions/Other Requirements:

Role will require minimum one day per week to be based at Peterborough Head Office and the ability to increase this when required when given due notice
Flexibility to travel to other CITB locations when required, usually as part of relationship building at key sites and/or attendance at planned HR team meetings
Some anti-social hours required, usually travel related
UK wide travel, not expected to be frequent
