What you'll be doing

You'll be at the frontline of integration, designing, building, testing and supporting the platforms that the wider team will use as they build the user interfaces applicants follow when they sign up for our banking products.

For Retail Products Originations is the first point of contact for people new to Nationwide, so it's critical that our systems are a pleasure to use.

You'll help us make sure these systems are resilient and fast; when problems do occur, we'll look to your calm, structured approach to problem solving.

About you The specific skills we're looking for include Kubernetes:

you'll know how it can make life easier for application developers by simplifying the complexity of networking and securitySecurity awareness: you'll know the fundamentals of how a secure system worksCloud systems: you will have had experience working with one of the major Cloud systems and will know how to deploy a secure applicationAPIs: you'll know how distributed applications are built and connectedAn open mind, happy to help: we expect you to get stuck in and have a go It's great if you've worked in a regulated industry like Finance before, but it's not essential.

We believe that a system is best supported by those that have built it, so we encourage our team members to lend a hand should things go wrong.

So, from time to time, you'll be a trusted member of our on-call rota.

As and E Engineer, we'll invest in your future and help you grow through access to a range of training courses.

Over time, you may want to specialise in advanced development, architecture or security.

Your leader will be a skilled engineer and coach, so they'll work closely with you to help identify the right opportunities for you.
