- We are the Environment Agency. We create better places for people, wildlife and the environment. We improve and protect the quality of our air, land and water by tackling pollution.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cumbria and Lancashire Installations (industrial regulation) team working with businesses to help them comply with the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
You'll ensure permit compliance, make assessments of operator ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution and optimise resources.You'll be using technical and leadership skills to use influence and negotiate to ensure best practice, often dealing with people at senior levels within industry, local communities and other interested groups.
You'll be expected to respond, investigate and undertake enforcement action to a range of environmental incidents.We support flexible working hours and practices to help you strike a good balance between your work life and your personal life.

- You'll join a supportive team of regulators improving compliance using tools such as Environmental Permits, across a range of industrial sectors: landfill, food and drink, hazardous waste, paper and pulp, oil and gas, combustion, metals, COMAH, and chemical manufacture. The work of the team covers Cumbria and Lancashire.
- Experience/skills required
- Experience and knowledge of one or more industrial/manufacturing sectors (including waste and landfill)
Ability to manage multiple demands on time in a prioritised manner to achieve outcomes and deliver against plans.
A proven track record of taking initiative and using a continuous improvement approach. Adapting readily to new ways of working
Flexibility in approach with a 'can do' attitude.
Ability to make decisions and solve complex technical problems.
Thorough knowledge of Health, safety and wellbeing and a positive and proactive approach to it.
