- Manage a particular category within the procurement team daily, providing support and guidance to ensure team targets are achieved.
- Distribute workload within the team evenly.
- Assist the purchasing manager or head of purchasing with assigned tasks promptly.
- Ensure team and purchasing manager's set targets are achieved optimally.
- Build and maintain supplier and manufacturer relationships for a specific product set, utilizing supplied information for negotiation purposes.
- Negotiate whenever possible to maximize margins.
- Collaborate with sales teams to address order issues.
- Interact effectively with all company departments, particularly the sales team.
- Ensure accurate input of purchase orders for timely invoice payments.
- Record all purchase order changes in the system.
- Coordinate with the warehouse for timely issue resolution.
- Provide backup for other department members and assist in additional tasks as requested by the Category Manager.
- Support less experienced team members in learning best practices and negotiation techniques.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a procurement role, preferably in IT (Knowledge of core CDW vendors is a plus).
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations ensuring optimal cost and quality.
- Demonstrated strong team management, numeracy, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and make sound decisions independently.
- Keen attention to detail, effective time management, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Professionalism, honesty, and hardworking attitude.
- Self-motivated, proactive, with excellent attention to detail.
