The Organisation:

The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017.

We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London.

These are Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James's Park, The Regent's Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.

We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens.

Our eight Royal Parks and other iconic green spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.


We are now looking for a Communications Assistant to join us on a full-time basis, for a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2024.

The Role:


As a Communications Assistant, you will work alongside two Senior Communications Officers to provide communications support to all teams across our organisation.


Helping to deliver our priorities and our communications strategy, you will utilise all our platforms, including TRP digital and social channels, to deliver a range of projects.

You will own some areas of work, assist internal teams and identify opportunities for media engagement and content creation.


You will lead in raising the profile of our horticulture work, developing relationships with our garden staff and identifying opportunities for press and content creation for our social media channels and website.


Additionally, you will:

  • Ensure the smooth running of our press office
  • Draft press releases and write platform content for a range of channels
  • Draft statements for reactive media enquiries
  • Set up press interviews, track coverage across all media
  • Develop a series of briefing sheets covering key issues affecting the Royal Parks
  • Ensure our media contact list is updated and covers a range of outlets

About You:

To be considered as a Communications Assistant, you will need:

  • Experience in creating written content for a variety of audiences
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams
  • Excellent written skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills
  • To be highly organised, with the ability to multitask and work to short deadlines while juggling multiple priorities
  • The ability to understand and translate complex information quickly
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of contacts internally and externally
  • Good computer skills, including using Microsoft Office and Excel
