The role:


It is the responsibility of the Out Of Hours on Call to ensure there is a continuation of service delivery and a point of contact for clients and staff alike outside normal working hours. To supervise, support and assist Care Workers. To ensure best practice and customer satisfaction and to organise and provide care cover for clients when the service is affected by sickness and absence.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Describe the key tasks and responsibilities the job holder has on an ongoing basis.
  • To maintain clear, concise, accurate and updated records using the appropriate care systems and other appropriate documentation.
  • To provide a concise handover to Managers and ensure all messages relating to service provision are documented and passed on to the appropriate staff members.
  • To ensure concerns about clients wellbeing are documented reported to a Manager.
  • To keep clients, their family members and staff informed regarding any significant changes or occurrences, which may affect service delivery.
  • To raise and action and changes to client care needs or adverse events.
  • Liaise with managers in order to manage events occurring whilst on call.
  • To ensure that telephones are answered promptly and care software is monitored in order to act in a professional manner and promote a positive company image by dealing with all matters in a timely, sensitive and polite manner.
  • To call the appropriate emergency service in the event of an emergency.
  • To organize and provide care cover for clients when the service is affected by sickness and absence.
  • To be able to arrange and coordinate the start of a package or increases to clients care needs, if the capacity of the company allows and provide guidance where needed.
  • To attend the office for receipt of handover from the main office, at the start of their On Call period and again at the end of their On Call period to handover to the resource coordinator. Handover must include current capacity.

Skills and Knowledge:


Essential:


  • Experience in care provision at a level that reflects the responsibilities of the post applied for.
  • Must be an organised person with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Professional communication skills which displays care and compassion to both staff and clients alike.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Must have a good understanding of IT and be able to record information on a variety of platforms.
  • Understanding of legislation concerned with care provision.
  • Administrative experience.
  • Able to cover weekends and bank holidays as required.
  • Able to reallocate work to staff to cover sickness and holidays.
  • Full driving license. (with business insurance)
  • To be available to attend training as appropriate to the role.

Desirable:


Professional qualification:


  • Experience as a Supervisor or Senior Care Worker or other role within a care providing organisation.
