Hong Kong Jockey Club Professorship of Global Health - Cambridge, United Kingdom - University of Cambridge
Description
Job title: Hong Kong Jockey Club Professorship of Global Health
Department/Location: Department of Medicine
Reference: RC41146
Closing date: 13 May 2024
The Board of Electors to the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Professorship of Global Health invite applications for this Professorship from outstanding individuals whose work falls within the general field of Global Health, in the broad areas of immunity and infection, to take up appointment as soon as possible. The post will be based in Cambridge. A key focus of the appointment will be overseeing Cambridge's contribution to the newly established HKJC Global Health Institute (GHI); a collaboration between the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), Hong Kong University and the University of Cambridge. Based in Hong Kong, the GHI will address the complex challenges of pandemic preparedness by accelerating vaccine research and development and advancing our ability to identify and prevent pandemics.
The Department of Medicine seeks to appoint a scientist of outstanding calibre, who will be recognised internationally for the strength and impact of their research in immunity/infection of relevance to Global Health. This will ideally complement the existing strengths of the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID). Research relevant to pandemic preparedness (and thus aligned with the GHI), and expertise in human immunology and/or human infection challenge, would be an advantage.
This is primarily a research-focused post, but contributions to clinical service (if appropriate), examining, supervision and administration may also be expected. Travel to Hong Kong will be required as necessary for the GHI leadership component of the post. Both clinical and non-clinical applications are welcomed. A competitive salary will be offered.
The University of Cambridge will be advised and supported in this appointment process by their executive search partner Perrett Laver.
For further details, including the job description, person specification, and information on how to apply, please visit quoting the reference number 7258.
Applications should consist of a letter of application, a statement of current and future research plans, a curriculum vitae and a publications list, along with details of three referees, should be made online. The cover letter should explain how you meet the criteria in the Person Specification (see Further Particulars).
The closing date for applications is 9:00am (BST) on Monday 13th May 2024.
For an informal and confidential discussion about this position, please contact Tadhg Waddington at Perrett Laver via
