We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to help with the booking of patients requiring orthopaedic surgery.


The Trauma and Orthopaedic Division booking team for Southend Hospital is part of the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust's Trauma and Orthopaedic service.

The the role will primarily be based at the Southend Hospital site, although some travel between MSE Hospital sites may be required (Basildon, Southend and Chelmsford Hospital sites).


We are seeking an individual with good communication skills to help us book patients for their surgery with our team of Consultants.

You will be required to call patients, liaise with the theatre teams and the consultants on a daily basis.

Knowledge of the hospital systems would be advantageous but training will be given.

To input all waiting list information via relevant digital systems, ensuring Data Quality is of a high standard. To maintain waiting lists according to government directives and initiatives;
To ensure all hospital waiting list policies are implemented and adhered to by reviewing and the contacting of patients;
To liaise with Consultants/medical and theatre staff to book theatre lists and to deal with all changes, cancellations and re-booking of individual patients, ensuring full utilisation of theatre time;
To monitor, review and validate waiting lists in line with Government targets and notify management of any patients likely to breach;

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To input all waiting list information via relevant digital systems, ensuring Data Quality is of a high standard. To maintain waiting lists according to government directives and initiatives;
To ensure all hospital waiting list policies are implemented and adhered to by reviewing and the contacting of patients;
To liaise with Consultants/medical and theatre staff to book theatre lists and to deal with all changes, cancellations and re-booking of individual patients, ensuring full utilisation of theatre time;
To ensure all equipment necessary is available for theatre when required
