Alana Utting

I am Alana, I absolutely love animals with my whole heart! I worked at Jimmys farm as a volunteer one day a week for a year, alongside my animal care college course. It was such an amazing and educational experience working with all the different keepers and all of the different animals they have there. I started working at Gladwells Pet Shop on Saturdays in February 2022 and I have a new part time contract with them since finishing college for 30 hours a week. One of my favourite things about the job is helping people find what they need, fitting their dogs with harnesses or trying to find the best product for then based on what their needs are. One of the best feelings is when people arrive with their new pups and they ask for help and advice on food, beds, toys, treats and leads and then getting a cuddle with them at the end! It’s a very rewarding job seeing dogs wag their tails out the door as they leave and seeing the owners happy after getting everything they need. Aside from work, in my spare time I love going to the beach with my dog, going on long walks, especially in winter and then cosying up after to watch some tv!

I have worked at Gladwells Pet and Country store for about a year and seven months now. I started off as a Saturday worker but I now currently do 3 days a week on a 30 hour contract, since finishing college. 

I went to Suffolk Rural college in September 2021 and studied Animal Care Level 2. I ended up getting a Merit in that course which I was really pleased with. The next year I studied Level 2 Beauty Therapy which I got a pass in.
