Alisha Owen-Evans

My interest in legal admin stems from my enthusiasm for building up great rapports in a social, business environment. I already have an impressive foundation of legal knowledge which I believe will make me an ideal candidate for this position as I am familiar with legal jargon and proceedings. My experience as a customer services officer for Mark Warner and a group leader for PGL have developed my ability to use initiative and problem-solve whilst always maintaining a positive and friendly attitude. I further believe that my excellent communication and written skills, IT proficiency, eagerness to learn and hard-working nature will ensure I thrive in the workplace.

I have previously worked as a Social Media Representative for Mark Warner Holidays in France from November 2019-April 2020. This role gave me the opportunity to enhance the company’s social media platform by creating and uploading digital content across social media platforms. It was my responsibility to advertise the company’s ski holidays by photographing their chalet-hotel, the childcare team, the smiling staff and the ski resort’s local events. This role enabled me to explore my creative skills with video and camera alongside my interests in digital marketing, content media, advertising and networking. I also had the opportunity to sell ski passes and in-resort events to hotel-guests, thereby considerably enhancing my confidence in pitching and selling. 

I have recently completed an online course in Digital Marketing with Future Learn, for which I received 97%. This course gave me the foundational skills in digital marketing techniques such as how to use search engine optimisation, email marketing and pay-per-click advertising. I completed three further courses with Future Learn, certified by the University of Leeds and Institute of Coding in Social Media Marketing, Online Content Creation and Mobile App Creation. 

Working in the tourist and hospitality industry for several years, I feel confident about my communication skills and ability to build up a great rapport with customers, colleagues and clients. My experience as a customer host and group leader in providing entertainment and delivering activities to guests has enhanced my potential to communicate clearly, enthusiastically and confidently in front of large groups of people. Having worked in the tourist industry as a ski representative, I am more than used to travelling for work, meeting deadlines, organising timetables and needing to be flexible. 

My undergraduate career has involved an intensive study of diverse and sensitive topics such as racism and mental illness, thus giving me the tools to write empathetically, persuasively and sensitively. My degree has also improved my rhetorical abilities, enabling me to identify what exactly makes a reader excited, sympathetic or amused. My own creative writing has developed into an original style which I confidently employ to write about issues which are important to me. Recently, I have written an article exploring the bias placed on women’s contraception, examining why exactly male contraception has been ruled out. As a writer for Her Campus, I am always exercising my journalistic capabilities both independently and within a team environment.
