Experience

 

2015- Glanusk Estate South Wales- 

 4 months May-September.

Position- Summer rearing field assistant. 

Daily rearing field duties such as Feeding, medicating, turning bedding, checking waters and gas,

Biting, Pressure washing, prepping sheds for second batches of birds, Pen work, Strimming. Construction of Partridge release units and water systems, catching up, realise of Poults to wood and Partridges to units. Daily spinner feeding, delivery of Poults to other shoots. Dogging in, trap and snare line checking and vermin control. 

Equipment operated - Strimmer’s, 4X4 ATVs, Quad bikes, JCB telehandler.   

In all we reared 115,000 Pheasants and 20,000 Partridges. I worked here during the summer between my 2 college years.

Vysoky Chumlec estate Czech Republic-  2016- 6 months July 1st-January 20th

I was an Underkeeper on this estate in the Czech Republic, for 6 months; Daily routine was whistle feeding the birds twice a day starting at 5:30. Medicating as required, and tractor driving to refill water tanks. 

We constructed Partridge units again and set up water lines etc and also carried out regular vermin control within the different laws of the Czech Republic. The vast majority of our time we were dogging in birds continually to keep them within the estate boundaries. 

On shoot days we hosted teams of guns from various countries including members of different countries royal families. 

On this estate we took great pride in putting on large back too back shoot days. This required perfect management of the surrounding environment for the game birds. 

Fox Walks Farm, Worcester. February-April 2017 

Position of lambing assistant. Lambing 1,000 ewes, calf rearing and cattle work. Stock fencing.

Equipment operation – quad bikes, New Holland tractors and class telehandlers.

Daily routine – Feeding and bedding up calves, ewes and lambs. Feeding hillside sheep and feeding indoor ewes. Assisting ewes to lamb and providing medical care where needed. 

 Continuous farm maintenance.

Cheshire pheasants Cheshire- April- September 2017 

Position of- Summer rearing assistant 

Daily rearing field duties such as Feeding, medicating, turning bedding, checking waters and gas.

Biting, Pressure washing, prepping sheds for second batches of birds, Strimming. Release of Poults to wood and Partridges to units. Organising the sale of birds and medicating accordingly. I left this position to start studying at university. 

During the holidays I continued to participate in varied farm work so that I could support myself throughout my time at university.  

Equipment operated- Ford tractors, Quad bikes. Sit on mowers and strimmer’s.

Flower farm- Summer and Christmas work. 

Position of farm hand:

During my Summer and Christmas breaks from University I would work full time at Flower farm in Godstone. Helping mainly with the poultry farming elements of the business. This being a commercial free range laying hen flock and also a number of Turkeys reared over the summer. 

During Christmas I helped pluck and prepare the Turkeys for shop sale. After my first year doing this I was given more responsibility.

In addition to this, I also assisted in other enterprises of the business. Such as festivals and various other events as well as some construction work.      

 

Current Employment- Surrey Hills Butchers. April 2020-present.

Position held- trainee butcher. 

  I have worked hard to be a crucial member of the team throughout these hard times to provide the best possible service to our customers whilst still delivering a quality product. 

We focus on providing are customers with top quality meat; as we also sell Pasture for life Beef. 

I learnt the role quickly, with Butchery responsibilities as follows along with various day to day business operations.

Full pork carcass break down. 

Boning and rolling pork joints.

Full Lamb carcass breakdown into sellable joints and chops.  

Sausage production- producing on average 200kg plus every week.

Burger/kebab production. 

Customer service.

Making added value products.

Duke of Edinburgh awards- I have completed all three of the Duke of Edinburgh awards; Bronze, Silver and Gold. I have felt that in doing so it has built vastly on my team work and communications skills

Voluntary work
