About Annie Hyde:
I have over 10 years experience working in the Challenging Behaviour Sector .
Career has included Teacher Trainee then Art Teacher for Offender Learners at HMP Birmingham
Additional Learning Support Assistant for Offender Learners at HMPYOI Glen Parva.
Then working with a vast variety of individuals ranging from children to Adults from all walks of life at P.R.U's, SENMH Settings, Outreach Programmes, Secure Units, Residential settings just to name a few.
I thrive on challenges and being in an environment where no day is the same, I enjoy building relationships with individuals: supporting & encouraging each person to make positive changes and enhance their well being(s).
I am a very good listener and have previous successes with being able to defuse challenging situations.
Experience
Started my career at 17 years of age in a Residential Setting working with Adults with Profound Learning Disabilities then went on to University to gain a Degree in Fine Art BA (Hons) upon graduating I then went on and gained a PGCE/PCET at Birmingham City University to become a Teacher in the Post 16 Sector.
My training was at HMP Birmingham training with Milton Keynes College for Offender Learners.
My niche for the Challenging Behaviour Sector began here in 2010 where I went on to teach Art to a wide variety of offenders having a wide variety of abilities and disabilities too.
I taught from ESOL level to Lv2.
After a couple of years experience I then went on to work at HMPYOI Glen Parva with Young Offenders as a 1:2:1 Learning Support Assistant and then developing onto assisting with the running of the Induction Programme.
After 6 years experience in the Prison Service I went on to gain even more experience in Challenging Behaviour by gaining Supporting/Behaviour Mentor roles in Pupil Referral Units, SENMH settings, Outreach Programmes where I re engaged disengaged pupils back into education, I've worked 1:2:1 with Residential children, Excluded pupils, Pupils that have ASD, EBD, ADHD, Mental Health just to name a few.
I know through experience the Challenging Behaviour Sector can be a demanding and stressful environment but equally it is a very rewarding job especially when you see an individual take those small challenging steps and then later become a success.
