JET Programme: ALT (Assistant Language Teacher)

(July 2012 – July2015) I worked in Japan in a High School (ages 15-18) on the JET Programme. During those three years I worked from being an Assistant Teacher in the English Language Classes to planning and teaching the classes on my own. I was also asked to be a judge in the Prefectural Speech and Debate Contests. This entailed Team Teaching in English Languages classes in 16- to 32 classes a week, lesson planning, creating and marking examination papers, running an extracurricular English Club and running an extracurricular Speech contest practice Club, 5 times a week.

I also worked part-time in a local SEN Elementary School (ages 4-10), facilitating learning tasks in English as well as general student support.
