Ben Cook

I am a hardworking and positive thinking person. I can learn new skills quickly and effectively. I have a wide range of hobbies and interests which help me be forward thinking. Looking back throughout my 7 years of work experience I was able to learn a multitude of transferrable skills which I plan to use on any future roles, I was able to form good professional and personal relationships which I believe is a perfect example on how I can work efficiently and effectively on my own and as part of a team.  

I played football for my local team for over 10 years, this I believe allowed me to work with lots of different personalities. We as a club (Sturminster Marshall) also hosted summer football tournaments which were always a success. 

I have recently found a love for movies and the art of filmmaking.

Allsorts UK LTD – Wimborne

October 2016 – December 2023

When I first started at Allsorts back in October 2016 I was primarily brought in as a manual production worker, this role had me collaborating with a team to complete manual mailings. These gave me skills such as hand stuffing, mail sorting, picking, and packing etc. As I became a more important part of the team, I learned how to operate a machine called the Buhrs this is an envelope feeding machine. This gave me the opportunity to collaborate closely with members of the production team and build a good cohort with my colleagues. During this time, I was able to help with both the manual side and the machine side, this gave me a wide scope and I was able to pick up and learn new skills from multiple different people. 

I have a keen eye for detail as I was able to find and pick out mistakes in artworks and print, this lead to an opportunity to gain experience doing data processing and how to apply data to artworks ready for print. While data processing, I got familiar and used software such as adobe acrobat, Winpur, FusionPro and Microsoft Excel. While this was not my primary role, it allowed me to help and cover for my colleagues and it meant for a quicker turnaround for jobs and thus a smaller wait period. 

As we were a small company, cover was hard, I was given the opportunity to gain experience with some basic office admin and how to process Royal Mail Dockets. This was a very independent role and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. It showed me that I can operate well as part of a team but also as an individual.

Corfe Hills School

During this time, I was able to get a GCSE in but not limited to; Maths, English Literature and Language, BTEC Sport, Science, Catering and ICT.

September 2014 – June 2016

I also attended Corfe hills school to do my a-levels where I took Computing (1 Year), English Literature (2 Years), History (1 Year), ICT (1 Year) and Business Studies (2 Years)

During my time at Corfe Hills School, I also received multiple awards for various subjects, I was also given the opportunity to go back to my previous school as part of an induction day. I also received multiple 100% attendance awards throughout my years at school.
