About Cecily Douglas:

I am an energetic, outgoing person who loves to be busy, and challenged. I thrive off of a demanding environment as my structured, but also out of the box, thinking allows me to perform tasks in a timely an efficient manner, whilst achieving a high-quality outcome. I have always enjoyed working hard in my academics, however I also love social environments in which my creative and bubbly side can shine through. I strive for continuous personal development in all aspects of my life, as I highly value learning new skills.

In my free time I enjoy a mixture of societies, including hockey, squash, and singing. In September 2024 I will be joining the squash committee, as their social media representative, which really called out to my creative side. I play multiple matches weekly, and they allow my energetic and social side to shine through. I have been part of choirs since a young age, and have performed lead roles in many musicals. These have grown my confidence greatly, and developed me into the outgoing person I am now.

Experience

Activity Leader

Play Alloa (volunteering role)

December 2021 to December 2023

I was involved in the weekly running of activity groups for children and young adults with a range of disabilities. This taught me how to adapt my communication skills and service delivery to a variety of needs and abilities. I also took on responsibilities in the planning side of these groups, which allowed me to develop administrative skills.

Children’s Activity Leader

The Gleneagles Hotel

March 2023 to September 2023

Throughout this role I was in charge of organising group activities and meals for large groups of children whilst protecting their welfare and safety. It allowed me to develop a structured approach to tasks, whilst adapting to flexible situations. With my 'First Aid at Work' qualification I was also able to take on a more practical role when dealing with any medical issues that presented.

Paper Round

The Sorting Office Dollar

May 2020 to August 2022

During this role I was involving in the delivery of papers to houses across my local village. The nature of this job demanded a lot of discipline during the early mornings, especially throughout winter times when conditions worsened. The responsibility of this role allowed me to grow as a team player within a large organisation, whilst tasking on leadership of my own tasks.

Waitress

Various private employers

March 2022 to September 2023

I was able to gain insight into the running of waitressing/drink delivery in a busy and demanding environment whilst working at various private events. They required effective communication in a team, and well-presented customer service.
