Charlotte Broster
Marketing / Advertising / Public Relations
About Charlotte Broster:
I have been self-employed as a photographer for over a decade. Prior to this, I worked in the worked for local and regional newspapers. I also undertook roles within internal press offices and PR agencies. I have built up a varied portfolio of news articles, press releases, bylines and advertorials and as a result, have developed exceptional written communication skills. In addition, my decade of experience in photography has included weddings, products, interiors and portraits.
Experience
Running my own business for over a decade has required me to incorporate and develop a versatile set of skills. My previous in PR and marketing has been imperative to growing my customer base and my flair for concise writing has led me to create engaging blog and social media posts.
Decision making, leading change and risk management is a vital component of being an entrepreneur. I can make decisions independently but I often reach out to other key businesspeople and even business coaches for guidance. Having colleagues to support and steer me is one of the benefits I’m seeking from full-time employment within a dynamic organisation.
The need to be adaptable when the pandemic struck in March 2020 led me to initiate a ‘front door project’, photographing families at home and documenting their stories, thus raising a significant amount of money for the mental health charity Mind. Never one to settle in my comfort zone, I am always striving to be better, for example, seeking opportunities for public speaking on BBC radio and relevant podcasts. My networking skills are exceptional, having been vital in liaising with clients and putting them at ease as well as building relationships with other key businesspeople. I pick new things up easily, especially when thrown in the deep end. That is, in fact, how I started my photography career – walking into a studio and boldly asking the owner for employment. My directness secured me a job straightaway!
Lastly, it may be helpful for you to look at my Instagram to see how I’ve generated unique and imaginative content in order to connect with my target audience. Hopefully, this will enable you to build a picture of the motivated and professional person I am. I assure you that working flexibly is no problem as long as I have prior notice, as I’ve often had to see my photography clients in the evenings and on weekends.
I hope you will consider my application and my position as a mother wanting to get back to full-time work after bringing up young children.
