About Charlotte Eve Lindsey:
I am an ambitious, innovative and energised Interior designer. With over 5 years industry experience, I have worked across commercial, workspace, retail and residential interior design. The satisfaction of seeing an idea through from fruition to implementation, continues to drive my never-ending passion. To create inspiring and functional spaces, which continue to push boundaries and surpass trends. I have a first class honours in Textile design, which has provided me a wealth of knowledge and understanding in textile materials, processes, colour theory and composition. Utilising CAD design software and visual tools to build and develop concepts, whilst following client/project requirements and work briefs. I was previously an Interior Designer for Ikea Manchester, for early 4 year. I am currently a Workplace Designer for The Senator Group.
Experience
I have over 5 years of industry experience working across commercial, workplace, retail and residential interior design, as well as a first-class honours in Textile design. Interior design is so much more than slapping some colour on a wall and adding a few cushions here and there. True interior design is creating beautiful, sustainable and functional spaces which can be enjoyed by many and positively improve and enhance people's lives.
Over 5 years ago I moved up to sunny Manchester to pursue a career as an Interior Designer at IKEA. This was a unique role in creating residential interior design but within a commercial retail setting. I worked from carefully curated briefs based on local market research, this provided me with an insightful understanding of how people use their homes. I designed environments that addressed common issues and requirements, as well as incorporated the latest design trends to continue to excite and inspire customers. I confidently lead each project from design concept to completion, liaising with retail staff and tradesmen, ensuring each deadline was achieved. I produced designs for each home furnishing department in the store, as well as non-customer-facing areas. The role was a mix of office-based planning and hands-on implementation, involving painting, building furniture, and assisting with room-set construction. I used AutoCAD, SketchUp, and IKEA furniture software, to draw up technical plans, elevations, and visuals, to deliver clear and concise project plans.
I currently work as a Workplace designer at The Senator Group who design, manufacture and implement contemporary commercial and residential furniture.
Following initial client lead brief and architectural plans, I use digital design packages Vectorworks and Affinity to create 2D plans, 3D elevations, and rendered visuals, as well as additional design documents such as mood and sample boards. I produce work for a variety of organisations and brands across the UK. This role has allowed me to build on and develop my digital design skills, quickly picking up new software and systems, within a fast-paced environment. I work closely with the Sales and Tendering teams, as well as liaising with clients directly.
My Textile Design degree provided a foundation of knowledge, covering areas such as design principles, colour theory, and material understanding. My time at IKEA was incredibly valuable for my career progression learning the hands-on side of an interior designer and designing for the commercial retail market. My role as a Workplace Designer has continued to develop my digital skills and allowed me to produce commercial interior designs for a larger audience.
I am now seeking a new opportunity to innovate, diversify and expand upon my interior design skills.
