About Charlotte Prosser:
I am a hardworking, friendly, and approachable individual, who can work well under pressure, and use her initiative. My four years of University study demonstrate how I am self-disciplined and able to put a successful plan into action. My most recent employment shows how I am able to adapt to a new setting, and how I will work hard to support those who require additional help, whether this be in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. Prior to this, I have been focused on providing an excellent experience for customers and clients and ensuring their needs are met. I always strive to make individuals feel valued. Outside of my working life, I enjoy reading, and writing fiction. I like to dedicate time to my writing of short stories and novels, with the end goal of publication.
I completed a Level 2 Mental Health Awareness course through the Learning Curve Group, as this is an area which I am deeply passionate about. A number of my creative pieces focus on mental health, with the hope of helping to reduce the stigma surrounding this.
I am currently working towards my Teaching Assistant Level 2 and Level 3 Certificates.
Experience
Teaching Assistant (Axcis Education) (present)
- I have worked a number of placements in Nursery/ Early Years, Primary, and Secondary school environments
- Duties include working in groups with students, or one-to-one with those with SEND, including challenging behaviours, supporting students with conditions such as autism, anxiety and ADHD
- I am eager to support students with their learning and to encourage them, adapting their learning style and incorporating elements such as sensory breaks where needed
- During my time working in this role, I have acquired many new qualities, which are transferable to the role for which I am applying, such as a greater understanding of SEND, the education system, and ways to support children by amending learning styles to work alongside their needs. My work history indicates I am a versatile individual who can mould to new settings, and take on new challenges with ease.
- I have a constant willingness to learn and gain new skills, especially in areas which I am passionate about, and I will do my best to ensure I understand these to the greatest of my ability, completing all necessary training.
Customer Experience Partner (Diligenta) (February 2022- February 2024)
- My work for Diligenta included taking phone calls from policy holders, financial advisers and other clients for the pensions company Phoenix Life. This role required many skills such as the need for my own initiative, remaining calm under pressure, a depth of knowledge, and a need for empathy, clarity and understanding.
- I am able to offer excellent customer service, with the provision of a friendly manner towards all clients, as well as being able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. I also aim to fulfil clients’ needs to the best of my ability, and deal with any queries to their satisfaction.
Barista (Aramark Ltd) (August 2018- February 2022)
- Barista work and serving food, working independently where needed, as well as the ability to cash-up the till. This shows how I am trustworthy and always willing to learn new skills. My role here has made me more aware of how common mental health is, especially in students, and this is one of the reasons why I have been inspired to focus on this topic.
Front of House Waiting Staff (Patisserie Holdings) (September 2017- August 2018)
- Serving customers; taking orders; waiting on; clearing tables; preparing afternoon teas and using barista skills as required; selling takeaway cakes as required; completing customer payments
Catering Assistant (Lightwater Valley) (May 2016- August 2017)
- Serving customers; using barista skills to prepare various coffees, including lattes and cappuccinos; operating the till/ card machine and giving change; placing orders; waiting on; assisting with cashing up; ability to cope under pressure; working as a team, particularly during busy periods.
Education
Education
Edge Hill University
Master of Arts in Creative Writing (2015-2016)
Degree Classification: Merit
- Relevant Modules included: The Manuscript, Cultural Industries, Research Methodologies and Poetics and Into the World
- Dissertation: The opening chapters of a novel based around the theme of dementia, entitled It’s Not a Betrayal. I found this a fascinating piece to work on, and it is one which I am continuing. Although dementia is an area which I already had understanding in, in-depth of research was still essential.
Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing (2012- 2015)
Degree Classification: 2:1
- Relevant Modules included: Dissertation, Advanced Fiction Writing, The Art of Poetry, The Art of Screenwriting, Special Author 2
- Dissertation: The opening chapters of a supernatural novel entitled Spectres. I had never written this genre before, so it allowed me to experiment with new ideas. The supernatural appealed to me due to the impact it can have upon a reader, and how content in the story cannot all be easily explained, meaning a greater commitment to the text is needed to fill in the gaps.
Richmond School (2010- 2012)
- Advanced Level: English Literature (C), Religious Studies (C), Media Studies (C)
- Advanced Subsidiary: English Language (C)
