About Christabel Aliyu:

Over a span of twelve years in Nigeria, I served as a dedicated class teacher in a Catholic primary school, establishing strong connections with students, colleagues, and parents through my attentive and compassionate nature. These qualities enabled me to effectively bring out the best in my pupils and foster positive relationships with their families. Prior to my teaching career, I held roles as an administrative officer at a security company and currently work in the care industry in England, providing personalized care to vulnerable individuals of different age groups, while also volunteering for the Lagos Food Bank initiative to support underprivileged communities.

Experience

I worked as a class teacher in a Catholic primary school for over twelve years in my country, Nigeria. Within those years, I was a teacher, friend, and confidante to my pupils and colleagues. I was able to maintain close relations with the parents of my pupils to this day. This wasn't difficult for me because I'm naturally observant, and I really listen to people, especially those under my care, and even more so with the vulnerable ones. And these qualities helped me bring out the best in my pupils and the parents were appreciative. Due to my love for writing from my first degree in mass communication, I was the chief editor of the school's magazine for seven years. Before becoming a teacher, I was the administrative officer of a security company for three years. During that timeframe, in addition to coordinating with more than 200 security personnel either in person or via telephone, customers were effectively and proficiently catered to. Since coming to England, I have worked in the care industry for almost a year. My current jobs involve giving personal and complex care to vulnerable elderly people and young adults. Apart from work, I volunteer with the Lagos Food Bank initiative (LFBI) where I assist in scouting and identifying less privileged people in communities within the state. These varied experiences have equipped me with the necessary skills to work with people of all ages.

Education

I am on the verge of completing my Master's degree program at De Montfort University, Leicester. I have obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and a Professional Diploma in Education (PDE).
