Experience
Sports Coach•Bentley New Village Primary School- Within this role i taught children ages 4-12 therefore my teaching methods had to adapt in order to meet constant changing needs of classes and individuals.I ran my own sessions that I had to plan with progressions and re-progressions so that I knew my sessions could be accessed by all children. I also volunteered my personal time to run extra - curricular activities.
Behaviour/SEMH 1:1•Bentley New Village Primary School- I managed challenging behaviour by being patient and using de-escalation strategies and re-regulating children when they're in a state of complete distress. I learned the psychological reasoning behind why children with trauma response instantly go into flight, fright or freeze. I participated regularly in safe hold with dis-regulated children and guided them to a safe space both physically and mentally.
SEND 1:1 / 2:1• Bentley New Village Primary school- In this role I learned different ways of communication including mackaton and that one way of communicating doesn’t work for all children. I planned small sessions with regular sensory breaks to keep them constantly engaged. Built and maintained courteous and effective relationships with SEND children.
Gymnastics Coach• Elmfield Gymnastics Club- As a gymnastics coach, I developed strong leadership, communication and international skills by planing and delivering engaging sessions tailored to all abilities. I supported children in developing confidence, discipline and teamwork while constantly promoting an encouraging learning environment. This role strengthened my ability to give clear instructions and manage groups effectively.
Gymnastics Judge- As a gymnastics judge, I developed strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to assess performance fairly and accurately. This role required patience, focus, and consistency when making decisions, as well as clear communication when providing feedback to coaches and athletes. These skills are highly valuable in a teaching assistant role, where careful observation, fair and consistent support, and clear guidance help create a positive and structured learning environment for children.
